Making your way to Los Angeles International Airport
LAX is a giant of an airport, and it has a correspondingly enormous volume of passenger traffic. If you want to keep your Zen while catching your flight, we recommend giving yourself a good two hours before boarding. While the airport is big, it’s well-laid out, with its nine terminals arranged in a horseshoe shape and connected by walkways and shuttles.
Los Angeles is famously a car-centric city, and that’s how most people get to the airport, but if you’d like to skip the LAX parking experience(there’s something to be said for that) then you might look into taking public transportation. The LAX Transit Center, located in Parking Lot C, links the airport to many city bus routes and shuttles. It’s also possible to take the Los Angeles Metro Rail to the Green Line Station, which links to the airport via a free shuttle. The other option is the Flyaway Bus Express Service, which is operated by Los Angeles World Airports. It has several routes throughout the metro area.
Arriving in Seattle
Coffee, grunge, and everyone’s favorite fictional radio personality: Seattle is famous for a lot of things, but its biggest attraction is its personality. Yes, it rains a lot, but no, that shouldn’t stop you from getting out and about to enjoy the city.
The mountains are a stone’s throw away, with all the skiing and hiking opportunities anyone could want, and the city itself is full of charm. The waterside park deserves a leisurely stroll, and so do the beautiful Botanical Gardens.
If it gets too wet, there’s plenty of indoor entertainment to keep you busy. Bring the kids to the Pacific Science Center, which has incredible exhibits, a planetarium, and an IMAX theater, or take a quiet afternoon to lose yourself in the beautiful collections at the Seattle Museum of Art. Top it all off with a visit to the Space Needle, where your ride to the top will be rewarded by heart-stopping views of the city and its incredible surrounding landscapes.
