You have several options for flying out of New York. The airport you choose will depend on which airline you'd like to take and its available flight times.

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is the busiest airport in the NYC area. The airport is southeast of the city in Jamaica, Queens. It's about 12 miles from JFK to Manhattan. Airlines that fly direct from JFK to London Heathrow include: American Airlines, Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Delta, Virgin Atlantic, Air France, and KLM. JFK has eight terminals. Air France flies out of terminal 1; Virgin Atlantic, KLM, and Delta use terminal 4; Aer Lingus uses terminal 5; British Airways and Iberia fly from terminal 7; and Finnair and American use terminal 8.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is in Newark, New Jersey, about 15 miles southwest of Manhattan. You can get a direct flight from Newark to London Heathrow from these airlines: Lufthansa, United, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Delta, Finnair, Virgin Atlantic, and American Airlines. Newark has three terminals. Terminals B and C are used for international flights.

New York's LaGuardia Airport is in Queens, about nine miles from Manhattan. Non-stop flights are currently not available from LaGuardia to Heathrow. If you want to fly out of LaGuardia, you'll need to take a flight with one or more connections.

However, be advised that people in England drive on the left side of the road, which will feel strange for Americans.

London's hottest month is July, when temperatures average 66°F. January is their coldest month, with an average of 41°F.

Just like most of the United States, London observes daylight savings time in the spring and summer. During those times of the year, their time zone is known as British Summer Time. The rest of the year, they're in Greenwich Mean Time. London is five hours ahead of New York.
