Finding cheap flights from Phoenix to Albuquerque: Frequently asked questions
These two cities share the fierce heat, rich history, and stark desert beauty of the American southwest. There are 330 miles between Phoenix, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico. If you grab a direct flight, you should be able to make the trip with a little over an hour in flight.

Making your way to Phoenix Sky Harbor
Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) is enormous. There are three very large active passenger terminals which are designated 2, 3, and 4 (Terminal 1 was retired and demolished). The airport is frequently named one of the busiest airports in the country, and the high volume of passengers can make this a hectic place, and you should allow at least 2 hours before your flight to deal with potential security lines.
Despite its traffic, PHX is a pleasant airport. There’s free WiFi, plenty of charging hubs with outlets and USB ports, and a good selection of food options. There are also 5 “pet parks” for furry passengers, but they can only be accessed before security. The SkyTrain rapid peoplemover connects the airport and its parking lots, helping to cut down travel time within the airport.
The airport’s Sky Train actually has a station with downtown Phoenix at 44th and Washington, making it easy to take public transportation to Sky Harbor. The Sky Train Station also connects the airport with many public bus routes. The Metro Light Rail also connects directly to the airport, with trains every 12 to 20 minutes. If you’re driving, it’s also a quick trip, as Sky Harbor is located just 3 miles from the city center.
Arriving in Albuquerque
This desert town is the largest city in New Mexico, where Native American and Mexican influences still powerfully enrich the culture. The legendary Route 66 winds its way right through the center of the city, evoking the charm and mystery of generations of road trips
The city’s heart is Old Town, where century-old adobe houses and cobblestone streets preserve the historical beauty of time gone by. The Sandia Peak Tramway is the longest in the world, and offers dizzyingly beautiful views of the mountain and the city. Of course, if you’re a fan of Walter White, you have to go on the Breaking Bad Location Tour. (There’s an RV version which looks like too much fun.)
