Do Skyscanner Prices Include Taxes?
We get this question all the time, and the answer is yes!
The prices you see when you search a flight on Skyscanner DO include our best estimate of the taxes and fees involved with each site.
Our goal is to make the fares you see as transparent as possible.
This means we don’t take any kind of fee or influence your search results in any way. We pull the prices you see directly from each individual travel agency or airline’s website to tell you exactly what it would cost to book the flight through them.
After searching for a flight, you can choose to sort the results by “Cheapest”, “Fastest”, or “Best” (which shows you what we think are the most reasonable flights for the most reasonable prices!).
Why would my flight cost more than it said
on Skyscanner?
You choose which OTA (online travel agency) or airline to book your flight with from our flight results page. Then, we redirect you to that website and they will clearly display any unforseen changes to the ticket price.
If this includes an up-to-the-minute fare increase from the airline, you’ll get notified that the fare has increased.
However, if the base fare for your flight didn’t increase, add-ons during the booking process may still affect the final ticket price.
Add-ons through the site that may influence the final ticket price include:
- Choosing a seat
- Upgrading a class
- Adding extra baggage
- Purchasing travel insurance
Be careful when clicking through the screens before you purchase because sometimes the airline will auto-click options for you like “Would you like to protect your trip?” you’re required to un-click them (if not interested).
The itemized final cost should be clearly shown to you before you input your credit card information. Always double-check for sneaky add-ons so you can go back and edit the flight if needed.
Will the travel provider charge me to use a credit card?
Travel providers sometimes charge more for certain payment methods.
But, the price shown on Skyscanner should always include a free option (typically for the most popular card in your country).
The price we show you in the results is under the assumption that you will be able to use the free payment option because it’s the most commonly used option for your country.
