This adventure starts in Tallahassee and ends in Miami, the tip of the Florida Panhandle. A little over 12 hours of drive time, lots of sand and sun, and memories in the making are just ahead of this epic Florida Road Trip.

If you’re a history buff then you’ll really love Tallahassee, the state capital of Florida. There are museums, parks, and historical sites sprawling all over. Be sure to visit Alfred B. McClay State Park, the History of Florida Museum and the Tallahassee Museum. Start this trip off learning about the beginnings of The Sunshine State and then move onto some more exciting adventures. 

Lofty Pursuits

Definitely make this your go-to brunch spot while in Tallahassee. They have a large menu and tons of ice cream flavors for dessert. Brunch includes twists on regular favorites like waffles, pancakes, and omelets. Unique ice cream flavors include Mexican Hot Chocolate, Java Jive, and Bear Claw. They also offer vegan flavors in ice cream and sorbet. 

Little English Guesthouse Bed and Breakfast

Just 5 miles from the city center this little b&b is relaxing and elegant. They offer 3 bedrooms with an English style garden out back that guests are welcome to stroll in. Have a cup of tea in the conservatory or hang out on the benches in the backyard. You can have a little slice of this English heaven for around $100 a night. 

Daytona

Aside from the beach, Daytona Lagoon is another hotspot for visitors and locals alike. You can find speed slides, go-kart racing, a rock wall, laser tag, and an arcade inside this amusement park. In Daytona Beach, you can actually drive your car right to the sand. The Boardwalk is another nice place to spend the evening. Strolling along the Boardwalk you’ll find ride, restaurants, bars, and incredible views.

Caribbean Jack’s Restaurant and Bar

Jack’s is a waterfront restaurant serving a variety of seafood dishes. They have a ton of specialty drinks with the option of getting one in a souvenir cup or a hand-carved coconut. On the weekends you can catch live bands while you enjoy dinner or a craft cocktail at the bar. 

Daytona Beach Boardwalk

The Foxtail Estate

This boutique Inn is peaceful, clean, and close to the beach. You can choose from 3 individual rooms or book the entire estate for your visit. The breakfast is incredible and everything inside the estate is curated for a welcoming, beautiful experience. Rest assured the hosts are caring and generous and your stay in Daytona won’t be complete without this little gem! 

Orlando

Home to Disney World and a variety of other theme parks, Orlando has no shortage of fun. Choose from Universal, Epcot, Islands of Adventure, Discovery Cove, or Volcano Bay. Volcano Bay is one of the newer parks in Orlando and not only does it have a ton of slides and pools but its clean, spacious and serves great food for an even better deal.

The Rusty Spoon

This locally sourced eatery offers small plates, salads, and handhelds that may be small but pack some big flavors. The “55” for example is a ½ lb Grass Fed Beef Stuffed with Bacon & Gruyere, Smothered Onions, Rusty Aioli & House Pickles on a Soft Roll. The Rusty Spoon also carries a large beer, wine, and cocktail menu to make your experience complete. 

The Wellborn Hotel

Located in the heart of downtown Orlando is The Wellborn. It’s a historic building and all the guest rooms have private baths with clawfoot tubs. All the rooms are outfitted to reflect different eras so this is going to be a unique place to rest your head. It’s in walking distance to shopping and restaurants and only a 20-minute drive to most attractions. 

Tampa

Busch Gardens, The Florida Aquarium, and Adventure Island are all some stops that will make this road trip even more exciting and adventurous. Busch Gardens in an African-themed amusement park with rides and entertainment. The aquarium boasts over 20,000 aquatic animals and plants that will keep you intrigued all day long. Lastly, Adventure Island is a water park sitting on 30 acres for the whole family to enjoy. 

Edison Food+Drink Lab

The Edison prides itself on creativity and technique making ordinary dishes anything but. On the dinner menu, you can find dishes like Espelette-seared American Red Snapper, Veracruz, Ancho Chile Honey-Glazed Cobia, and Brown Sugar-glazed Wild Maine Sea Scallops. Is your mouth watering yet, or just me? Their mixology menu features unique drinks like one dubbed ‘Gin & Cigarettes’ which includes Ford’s ‘London Dry’ gin, Aperol, Allspice Dram, Lillet Rouge, and Habañero tincture. 

Riverbend Retreat

This Retreat features two different accommodations: the guest house and the emerald house. They both have a kitchen, fireplace, cupola, and a deck. The complimentary breakfast includes items like banana pancakes and protein smoothies. Also available are 24/7 self-serve stations equipped with fresh fruit, cereal, coffee, and more. 

Miami

One place that you have to check out while in Miami is South Beach. It’s a trendy spot, full or shopping and nightlife. The Everglades should also top your list where you can walk, camp, canoe, and see 14 different species of endangered wildlife. Monkey Jungle is also a unique park where you can interact with, you guessed it, monkeys. 

Prohibition Restaurant and Speakeasy

This prohibition style restaurant is a nighttime only affair that serves craft cocktails and exceptional entrees. The Truffle Lobster Mac & Cheese is a must to start your night. Work your way onto the Seared Scallops and finish with a fancy dessert that you won’t be able to take just one bite out of. 

Villa Italia

This modern abode recently underwent remodeling making it a picture perfect place to stay and near South Beach. If you opt to stay in the villa you will have access to two rooms with authentic Italian furniture and private access to your room. Bask in the Florida sun and then wake up to their complimentary breakfast.

Bring On The Sunshine

One thing I can say for sure is this Florida road trip is packed full of fun, sandy beaches, and trendy restaurants and bars that will make for a memorable vacation.
