Can you book a flight and pay later? We’re about to make your day, because: yes, you can. Paying for flights in installments is a smart way to treat yourself to that vacation you really need and deserve, but didn’t think you could afford. Because, let’s face it, travel isn’t cheap, and there’s nothing like worrying about the price tag to take the shine off your dream trip.

Below, we’ve put together a guide to finding book now, pay later flights, so you can pay for your flight in small amounts over a period of time. Because we believe everyone should have the chance to go see this strange old place we call Earth, without it costing the Earth to do it.

How can I reserve a flight without paying?

First of all, find the flight you want. If you search for it on Skyscanner, we’ll show you the best deals we can find at that time, so you’re getting the fairest price for your route.

Found something you like? OK, now it’s time to check if that carrier offers a book now, pay later plan.

British Airways

The good news is, British Airways does offer the option to book online with nothing more than a low deposit. But — and it’s a big but — this is only an option if you book a package: either flight + hotel, or flight + car.

Still, it can work out as a pretty good deal, especially as you can pay off the balance in as many instalments as you want. This means you get to figure out a payment plan that suits you best — the only rule is that the full amount has to be paid five weeks before travel.

Once you’ve booked a low deposit package with British Airways, they’ll email you with all the details of how and when to pay your installments.

American Airlines

American Airlines has a ‘Fly Now Payment Plan’, which gives you six months to pay off the flight without adding interest (so long as the flight cost $150 or more). The catch? It’s only offered to people with an American Airlines Credit Card. You can apply for the card online — you’ll need a US billing address — and you’ll know if you’ve been approved within minutes.

KLM

This is pretty cool: KLM allows you to checkout with PayPal and choose the ‘Bill Me Later’ option. It gives you six months to pay off the balance, with no interest. Nice!

Before you commit, though, it’s a good idea to check out PayPal’s terms and conditions for ‘Bill Me Later’ — for example, minimum monthly payments are required, and if you don’t pay off the balance within six months, you’ll be charged interest dated back to when you booked the tickets. See the T&Cs here.
