Orlando has something for everyone in the family. That is why it is one of the most family-friendly vacation spots in the United States, and the world. There may be no beaches but one of its main attractions are it’s iconic theme parks. This can definitely be a challenge to know which one to visit. It’s already overwhelming landing into Orlando as Mickey Mouse is at the airport.
Of course, it all depends on who you’re going on vacation with and what each person prefers, but there are some theme parks that you have to experience at least once. Luckily, we have those theme parks noted down below for you.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Once called Disney-MGM Studios, the Disney theme park takes its visitors back in time to the 1920’s Hollywood era. Even though most of the attractions are from back then, there’s something for the entire family to enjoy from the Tower of Terror to Beauty and the Beast’s live show. With its many activities, it can take more than one day to experience it all. If you plan on knocking out the park in one day, make sure to arrive early so you don’t exhaust yourself out.
Disney’s Magic Kingdom
Disney World’s first theme park still remains one of the most popular theme parks in the city. It receives 20 million visitors a year so you can expect a magical experience when you go yourself. Once you enter, you’re greeted with the iconic Cinderella castle which is seen at the start of Disney movies.
With its many visitors, Magic Kingdom always goes above and beyond and that includes six different lands of fun – Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, Main Street, and Liberty Square.
As you wander through the theme park, you will instantly be taken back to your childhood as classic Disney characters roam around the park. Kids and adults can take pictures with their favorite characters.
Universal’s Island of Adventure
To those looking to have a thrill-seeking experience, Island of Adventure is calling your name. It’s not necessarily a magical experience like the Magic Kingdom but you will still have the time of your life.
Island of Adventure sounds like it’s mainly for the older crowd but that’s not the case. It has something for everyone. There are roller coasters for those who crave adrenaline, like the Hulk Coaster that can reach 105 MPH, or live shows for the younger ones. There’s even a Dr. Seuss area that is family-friendly and has rides specifically for children.
Universal Studios
Universal Studios allows its visitors to re-visit and experience classic Hollywood rides and attractions. Its major attraction has attracted Harry Potter fans around the world as it replicated Diagon Alley but that’s just one thing. There are also areas focused around the films like ‘Jaws’ and ‘King Kong’.
In comparison to its relative theme park, ‘Island of Adventure’, Universal Studios wants its visitors to feel the combination of a movie experience with topnotch technology through 3D shows, shows of classic movies, like ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Beetlejuice’, and thrilling rides.
LegoLand
From building Lego’s in your house to building with life-size Lego pieces, the theme park definitely makes you feel miniature. Just an hour ride from Downtown Orlando, Legoland is a dreamland for those who are fanatics of the brand.
Although most amenities are catered to kids between the ages of 2-12 years, that doesn’t mean adults aren’t welcomed. There are many roller coasters, massive Lego-built models, shows, and performances for everyone to enjoy.
Disney’s EPCOT
You know that place with the huge iconic sphere design? Well, that’s EPCOT. Although it does have some attractions for younger kids, the park is mainly catered for adults. It’s heavily focused on science and technology instead of roller coasters.
The man, Walt Disney, actually designed one of the original parks which started as a world showcase. Now, the park is dedicated to ‘celebrating the human spirit’. Because of that, make sure you wear comfortable shoes as it’s a 1.3-mile walk around the world pavilion. You can learn about many cultures and foods from around the world at the ‘World Showcase’. Or you can explore everything science-related at ‘Future World’.
