Texas can make you forget about work and school come spring break. Here’s how.

San Antonio

Home of The Alamo, San Antonio is one of the most youthful cities in the country. The city vibe is amazing and the nightlife is booming all-year-round.

The Hard Rock Café is one of the first places you should visit if you’re looking to start partying. If you’re into handcrafted cocktails and want to have fun in a historic location, San Antonio delivers.

The Menger Bar in the Victorian-era Menger Hotel should be on your list. Stepping inside it is like stepping back through time.

Of course, if you’re just looking for some relaxation and fine dining, the city has that too, including some of the Mexican food in the country. You can take advantage of your spring break and visit the iconic Alamo fort. And for a great deal, stay at the Comfort Inn within a mile of the fort.

South Padre Island

South Padre Island is a sweet destination for a spring break Texas getaway. What’s in store are clear blue waters and 34 miles of golden sand. Nature lovers, families, and college students all can find something to do.

During the day, the beaches are welcoming to volleyball, picnicking, and partying. Once the sun sets, places like Palm St. Pier and Tequila Sunset offer many handcrafted cocktails, good food, and live music.

Dinosaur Valley State Park

If you’re the adventurous and outdoorsy type then you can spend your spring break in Dinosaur Valley State Park. There’s a lot of sightseeing to be done and plenty of places to camp where you can let loose once the night sets.

Just a two-hour drive from Dallas, Dinosaur Valley State Park can be both educational and a secluded retreat for certain people. If you’re taking route 67, make sure to stop at the Riverhouse Grill on 210 SW Barnard St and grab a bite to eat before heading into the park.

Make sure to get a good deal on your rental car for when you touch down in Dallas.

Corpus Christi

For some people, there can’t be a spring break without a trip to the beach. If you want to do some sightseeing and get some beach action going too, then Corpus Christi fits your needs.

Lots of people visit the South Texas Botanical Gardens and or the USS Lexington Museum.

When you’re done admiring the scenery and the ship, you could take a drive to Padre Island. It’s the place to be for warm waters, rich nightlife, surfing, fishing, and fine dining. In and around the Bob Hall Pier, you can find anything you need.

If you decide to spend all your time in Corpus Christi, look into staying at the Port Royal Ocean Resort. Might as well take advantage and enjoy the view of Padre Island for the entire week.

You can either fly right into Corpus Christi International or make it a road trip from San Antonio International. Corpus Christi tends to be a little more expensive to fly in to so you can compare your prices here. You could also get a rental in San Antonio and make it a two-hour scenic ride into port.

Galveston

When it comes to spring break, Texas is a great option for beaches that aren’t as full of the usual hordes of students. 27 miles of fun await you in the island city of Galveston, Texas. The beaches stretch along the Gulf of Mexico and offer a staggering number of rides, as well as attractions.

The fine sand is great for volleyball and the selection of bars makes it easy to keep a buzz going all night. Places like the Moody Mansion or Bishop’s Palace are great to visit. If you’re looking to grab a bite, Galveston’s harbor area has great cuisine and the best deals.

The nearest airport is Houston Hobby International, 42 miles from the Port of Galveston.
