What’s at the top of your post-pandemic travel list? Our Twitter followers speak out!

We know that travel is especially difficult right now. But alongside the latest COVID-19 travel advice and updates, we want to continue to inspire you with new travel content so that when the world opens its doors again, you'll be ready.

We wanted to know where some of the world’s most avid travelers hope to land for their first post-pandemic trip, so we posed the question to our travel community on Twitter. We received a wide range of responses that will surely help you fill your own travel list. Let’s explore the destinations that are inspiring travelers across the globe to plan their next adventure.

This coastal country on Europe’s Iberian Peninsula is a destination that excites visitors year-round. The Algarve in the south is well-known for its sun-drenched beaches and mouth-watering grilled seafood specialties, like sardines and prawns. In the north, the famed Douro River is flanked by vineyards that produce world-class wines and port. Throughout the country, cobbled pedestrian streets, medieval castles, and ancient city walls are quintessentially old Europe.

There are unlimited options for outdoor adventures down under. Ireland and Northern Ireland

Tourists come from all over the world to admire the island’s majestic countryside and coastal scenery. The towering Cliffs of Moher are a geological wonder, rising more than 700 feet above sea level on the west coast. In Northern Ireland, Giant’s Causeway is filled with a mind-boggling 40,000 basalt columns that jut right out of the sea. 

The island is also well-known for its beer and spirits. In Dublin, taste a pour of Ireland’s world-famous creamy Guinness beer. The Old Bushmills Distillery in Northern Ireland welcomes visitors to tour the facility and taste some of the world’s finest whiskey. (Both are temporarily closed to visitors during the pandemic.)

Tenerife, Canary Islands

Tenerife is the largest—and most visited—of Spain’s Canary Islands, which are located off the western coast of North Africa. It’s well-known for attractive beaches, water activities, mountain hiking, and all-inclusive resorts. On the Masca Valley trail, hikers will enjoy fantastic views and encounter a remote village. The hike ends at the Atlantic Ocean, where you can catch a boat to Acantilados de Los Gigantes. Break out your camera for these incredible coastal cliffs. They soar to a height of more than 2,000 feet in some areas. Visitors can also join boat tours to spot some of the many dolphins and whales that move through the surrounding waters.

Florida Keys

From Key Largo to Key West, the laid-back vibe of the Florida locals is contagious. It doesn’t take long for visitors to fall into island time and disconnect from the stressors of daily life.

For those who want to do more than relax to the tunes of Jimmy Buffet, the Florida Keys have plenty to offer. Snorkel, SCUBA dive, or take a glass-bottom boat tour through John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Explore historic Fort Jefferson, built in the 19th century, on a day trip to Dry Tortugas National Park. A must for literature fans is a pilgrimage to the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, the former residence of the famed American novelist.

Key West, Florida on the travel list


This North African country is as surprising as it is beautiful. Its palm tree-lined shores in the north are in deep contrast to the undulating sand dunes of the Sahara in the south. In-between the two, visitors are reminded of the incredible role the region played in world history. 

Ruins from the ancient Phoenician city of Carthage, now modern-day Tunis, are still visible today.  A couple hours’ drive south, the well-preserved Roman amphitheater of El Djem welcomes tourists to walk the grounds or sit in the stands. The Ribat of Monastir, a coastal Islamic defensive structure, dates back to 796. Today, visitors are able to explore inside the fortress’ walls and enjoy expansive views of the surrounding area.

This expansive archipelago is known for its world-class beaches. But with more than 17,000 islands and a rich history, there are plenty of opportunities to add variety to your getaway. Beyond Bali’s beaches, outdoor adventures await. Go jungle trekking, scale a volcano to catch sunrise, and visit Balinese Hindu religious sites and temples.

At Komodo National Park, visitors have the unique experience of being able to see the mighty Komodo dragon in its only natural habitat on Earth. Yogyakarta, on the island of Java, is a cultural hub. History buffs are drawn to two extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Prambanan, a Hindu temple complex, and Borobudur, a Buddhist temple complex.

This island nation in Southeast Asia is a dynamic blend of traditional culture and modern living. Explore diverse neighborhoods in Singapore, like Little India, Chinatown, and Katong/Joo Chiat–the latter being known for Peranakan culture and colorful shophouses. Stroll the Esplanade for a fantastic waterfront view of the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel. Dine alongside locals at hawker centers and nosh on delectable dishes like laksa, chicken rice, and kaya toast. Leave some room in your luggage, because the shopping scene in this fashion-forward city is sure to draw you in.
