Though we’re inching closer and closer to spring, those long, warm summer days are still a ways off. So in the meantime, catch some rays and pleasant vibes at these sunny destinations if you’re wondering where’s hot in March.
1. Jaipur, India
Nicknamed the Pink City for the rosy hue of its historic buildings, Jaipur is the perfect warm-weather city break with a plethora of architectural gems. March marks the start of India’s summer season, and you can expect temperatures in the high 80s, but low humidity means you can explore the many forts, palaces, temples, and grand monuments stickiness-free.

Start with Nahargarh Fort on the rocky ridges of the Aravalli Hills for panoramic (to say nothing of captivating) city views. Then explore the opulent rooms and gardens of the City Palace. For something truly special, visit the Amrapali Museum showcasing Indian jewelry. Don’t miss Jal Mahal, a stunning palace sitting in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake, or the Johari Bazar for shopping and Masala Chowk for local cuisine.
We’re hesitant to recommend you stay at Jai Mahal Palace because — between the decadent rooms (it’s a palace, after all) and 18 lush acres where you can go for leisurely strolls, play miniature golf, lounge by the pool, indulge in spa treatments, and dine at the on-site restaurant — you may not want to venture beyond its walls. For something more affordable but no less opulent, book a room in Shahpura House, a heritage hotel run by an aristocratic family.
2. Sardinia, Italy
Come the summer months on the Mediterranean Sea‘s second-largest island, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a hotel or even a place to lay your towel on its immaculate beaches. And that’s why March, when temperatures are in the mid-60s, is a great month to experience Sardinia’s natural beauty.

Last year, Eater published its very first Essential Sardinia Restaurants guide. Use it to help you town-hop and eat your way through the island’s many culinary specialties. Start your trip in Cagliari on the marble steps of Passeggiata Coperta. Then explore the Castello district with its grand palaces, towers, Roman amphitheater, and lovely botanical garden.
Go on to visit the town of Orgosolo, covered in murals, or find hiking or river-rafting adventures in Gola di Gorropu. Don’t miss Castelsardo and Alghero, two of Italy’s most beautiful seaside towns. And if you want to see what the fuss is all about, visit the Cala Brandinchi (locally known as Tahiti) or La Pelosa Beach in Stintino, and you’ll understand.
In Cagliari, bed down at the chic Hotel Villa Fanny. If you spend the night in Alghero (you should), treat yourself to a stay in Villa Las Tronas Hotel & Spa (with off-peak prices, it shouldn’t be too hard). This former summer retreat of Italian royalty has stunning oceanfront views, and rumor has it that Elizabeth Taylor spent many a night there.
3. Nassau, Bahamas
We don’t have to work hard to convince you to visit Nassau in March, but if we must, come for the glorious weather, crystal-clear waters, and golden beaches. Spend the afternoon lounging, playing golf, or trying your luck at Baha Mar, the biggest casino in the Caribbean.

You will be equally pleased with a stroll through this lively port city (an excellent base for island excursions and activities), climbing the Queen’s Staircase or popping into John Watling’s Distillery to sample small-batch rums. But if that’s not reason enough, on March 13-17, 2024, you can attend the Nassau Paradise Island Wine and Food Festival. On the docket are gastronomy experiences featuring José Andrés, Nobu Matsuhisa, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Robert Irvine, and taco and tequila tastings with celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern. Convinced yet?
Be right in the middle of the festivities by staying at The Coral at Atlantis, one of the hotels in the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, which happens to be hosting the event. But if you’re looking for something more low-key in this town where it’s hot in March, then Ocean West Boutique Hotel is your spot.
