Such a surprise to find this open space right along the Rio Grande River a short drive or bike ride from the studio. Year-round view wild birds, tortoises, native plants and find a quiet place to linger.

Located in the bosque, or cottonwood forest, and by the
wetland bordering the Rio Grande, the Nature Center is
the focus of the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park. A
refuge from the city life of Albuquerque, the park offers
opportunities to experience 270 acres of woods, meadows
and farmland flourishing with native grasses, wildflowers,
willows and cottonwoods. The center offers fantastic bird
watching of countless local and migratory species year round.

If you are tired of touring and want to see some green space, this is the place to go. Bring your binoculars as birds flock here. In winter Sandhill Cranes call it home in summer, many species of ducks, including Wood Ducks, warblers, sparrows and other colorful birds populate the cottonwoods. There are good trails for hiking and biking.

$3 per car is all they charge and you can easily spend most of a day wandering around here with eyes and ears open and binoculars in hand. See nature up close.
