Close to Jacksonville, and a great place to go sit on a beach and look for shells without the hustle of a big city.

Hidden gem on Florida's east coast. 13M long and 2M wide. Can walk or bike the whole island, very relaxing and great little food options with views. Gorgeous golf as well

Just over an hour drive south of SSI. You can spend an entire day in lovely Fernandina. Great shops and restaurants. Also, next to Brett's cafe is a boating tour of the island which is excellent!

This LGBT-friendly barrier island off the northern coast of Florida has a worldly past, having existed under eight different flags, including Spain, Mexico, and France. Its dominant personality is now Victorian charm, manifested in such spots as the Palace Saloon, which purports to be the oldest bar in Florida (readers also ranked the town in the top 10 for good beer-quaffing). Another old-fashioned perk: Amelia Island State Park is one of the few beaches in the U.S. where you’re still allowed to ride horses right on the sand.

Really nice vacation spot - You can opt for a big fancy hotel on the beach, or a quaint little Victorian B&B. The town of Fernandina Beach is so charming!
