Disneyland, happiest place on earth, every child has dreams of going there and experience the Disney magic in person. The first area that a visitor encounters entering the park is Main Street, USA, ... Read more
leading to the Central Plaza. Main Street is designed to invoke the "carefree times that it creates", it aims to "bring back happy memories". For younger visitors, it provides "an adventure in turning back the calendars to the days of grandfather's youth". Main Street is reminiscent of Victorian times during the early 20th century in typical Midwestern towns. With a train station, town square, movie theater, city hall, firehouse complete with a steam-powered pump engine, emporium, shops, arcades, double-decker bus, horse-drawn streetcar, jitneys and other bits of memorabilia, it brings to life the center of activities in that era. Take a leisure stroll down Main street and imagine the simple life back then or browse in the many stores for treasures to commemorate your visits, it's a must see when your in the happiest place on earth.

Always the nicest part of Disneyland. Feels sweet and cozy and nostalgic. Always looks beautiful. Charging points in the Abraham Lincoln building, which is also super air-conditioned. Get free buttons at the City Hall across (Congratulations, Happy Birthday, Just Married, First Visit...). Tons of photo opps. Watch fireworks from the train station.

Main Street is one of the first things you see as you walk around Disneyland. Make sure to take a picture by Walt DIsney statue!

It's hard to believe that any given weekend, Disneyland has more people inside than some small cities. Well not really once you walk around Main Street. A cool thing you can do at Disneyland is send a postcard. There's a special stamp they use when they make it out. You can also invite Mickey and Minnie Mouse to your wedding and you'll get a congratulations postcard from them.

When you wish upon a star and end up at Disneyland, your adventure begins here, on Main Street. Surrounded by shops, sweets, and facing the castle, it can be hard not to feel the Disney magic as you walk along the street. In fact, there's even a magic store!

Tip- If you are buying items to take home, buy them at the end of your day, or have them hold the items for later pickup so you don't have to drag them with you all day.

Once you enter the magical world of Disneyland, you begin your day on Main Street. Full of shops, performers, and often has characters throughout the day. I have always loved the candy and gift shops but you may want to save that for the end of the day. The magic shop is another place I have a lot of fond memories of and walking the invisible dogs. You cannot walk down main street without a smile, it's got the best energy!

Squeeze your way through the crowds as you head towards the rides and again when you're trying to leave the park. The street is lined with shops -- ice cream, souvenirs, cafes, etc. You can catch the characters here as well and people line the streets prior to fireworks and parades that come through this area.

Main Street may become extremely congested (especially within an hour before and after any parades), but there is NOTHING that lifts my spirits like this strip of Disneyland. The street sparkles from the nightly washing, and big band music sets the tone as you admire the shops and restaurants. The attention to detail makes Main Street one of the most charming areas in Disneyland, and I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Main Street takes you from the Disneyland entrance into the park. It's lined with shops and restaurants, the most interesting of which might be the Magic Shop since it was Steve Martin's first job.

Everyone knows Main Street USA! It's the main street you see when you go into Disneyland. Classic American icon. It's just too bad it's getting overcrowded recently.
