It's a very beautiful valley, full of things to do. You can, for example, check out the amazing "momias de la cultura chinchorro" (Chinchorro mummies), the oldest mummies in the world, at the azapa museum. You can also have a look at the many farms in the valley, which produce all sorts of different fruits, vegetables, spices, trees, and herbs that you can imagine. You could pretty much completely live off-grid with the variety of food that can successfully be grown in this valley. I would definitely recommend to rent a car in order to visit the valley thoroughly and maximize your time on it. One of the coolest things I loved doing while in azapa was to drive up the valley and arrive to a very high area which connects you to the Lluta valley. In other words, Azapa has a "secret" road that connects you to another valley!! Drive safely, because the roads are quite narrow and the turns very steep. Another thing I'd like to add is that you should also visit the area called San Miguel de Azapa. A little town with a beautiful, historical little church, which is a mix of the Spanish and indigenous (Aymara/Quechua) cultures of northern Chile.

This valley is well known for its tropical fruits and for its famous Azapa olives, it is very close to the center of Arica, only five kilometers away and you can travel all over El Valle by bike or horse, there are organized tours to go out in groups. Also here you can visit some archaeological remains where you can appreciate remains and ruins of the Chinchorro culture.

The Valley of Azapa located in Arica, is another of the great tourist attractions of the city. It is famous for the production of guava, olives, mango, banana and papaya. It also highlights its archaeological development with more than 10,000 years of history.
It presents a totally wide and beautiful landscape, which deserves to be visited!
