Asheville Hotel Insider
Asheville, Artsville - the names are practically synonymous. In a city already surrounded by one of the most stunning scenic landscapes in the U.S. (the Blue Ridge Parkway, if you’re not keeping up), it’s no wonder arts and culture rule. And don’t forget their eco-friendly green scene: sustainable seafood and organic shops round out the experience. It’s fitting that you can tour Art Deco buildings, crafts markets, art galleries, and more during the day -- then hang your hat at an artistic local hotel with creative decor at night.

Asheville Hotels
Hotels in Asheville are appropriately North Carolinian; meaning one of two things: they’re grandiose, or quaint with Southern charm. Or both. For a pamper-worthy escape, try the Crowne Plaza, Sheraton, or Hilton locales here (particularly Hilton’s Biltmore Park location) - or opt to splurge at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa. Aside from the 18-hole golf course, fire pits at the in-house Grand Old Hall, and marble bathrooms, you can enjoy underwater music when you swim at the pool. (No, really.) Downtown’s dog-friendly Hotel Indigo is another great option, with free WiFi.

For a bit more character, try the Princess Anne Hotel - a B&B with a wraparound porch and hidden nooks perfect for reading. The Aloft Hotel downtown is edgier, but features a reverse osmosis fountain and live music at night.

For budget seekers, The Holiday Inns (there are five in Asheville) are also pet-friendly - and Country Inn and Suites offers warm chocolate chip cookies upon arrival.

Asheville Things To Do
There are plenty of things to do in Asheville. Get out and explore the surrounding nature with a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, considered the greatest motorcycle route in the U.S. Hike around Pisgah National Forest, where you can see numerous waterfalls and challenge your friends to the Sliding Rock (slide down a rock into an alpine lake). If you’re short on time, stay in town and tour the zoo-like WNC Nature Center, or the thousands of flowers and trees at The North Carolina Arboretum.

Of course, there’s plenty to do that doesn’t strictly involve Mother Nature. Art lovers will enjoy the Folk Art Center craft museum, while trendsters will want to stop in at The Orange Peel and The Grey Eagle music venues for a live show by either a local act or a Grammy-winning superstar. Don’t miss a tour of the lavish Biltmore Estate, home of George and Edith Vanderbilt, 16th century furnishings, and a 10,000-volume library (and the biggest mansion in the U.S.) Nearby Biltmore Village was built for the staff who worked on the estate, and has plenty of shops, cafes, and galleries to peruse. If you’re in town for awhile, The Residences at Biltmore is a good place to settle in, with views of the mountains and apartment-style rooms.
