The gondola up the mountain is right in the middle of the town. It's a relatively small mountain by Colorado standards but it has more than enough terrain to keep skiers excited year after year!

Winter sports fans will adore Aspen Mountain (also known as Ajax Mountain) as it offers miles of challenging runs and delivers epic views over Aspen. In the warm months when the snow melts, Aspen Mountain is a butt-kicking hike! Challenge yourself on the ascent and then grab a ride on the gondola back down mountain.

Best skiing and hiking in the Rocky Mountains! 30 minutes from my property. Bus line connects and is $10 r/t.

The premier mountain downtown, easy drive or free bus ride into town. Expert skiing with some easy blues at top and can take the gondola down if don't want to ski down. Great for hiking, dining at the Sundeck restaurant, gondola riding, music on the mountain on Saturdays in the summer

A truly spectacular intermediate to expert mountain in this 4 mountain ski resort - Ajax, as the locals call it, will challenge any skier out there and is just plain fun to ski or snowboard on. The Sundeck restaurant offers the finest on-mountain cuisine and incredible views and the new gondola offers a quick and comfortable ride to the top. At the end of the day, ski to the base and you'll find several places within easy walking distance for Apres Ski.

Thanks to government shut downs, we couldn't get to maroon bells. Plan b turned out to a fun free ride to the top of Ajax mountain. Vast blue skies, a preview of snowy winter fun, and access to mountain beauty saved the day.

Walk one block to the "locals secret" lift #1A or just take the ski trail down to the gondola.
