Jersey Shore, Vegas-style. Or more like Reno-style. The fading beach vacation destination cashed in on New Jersey's decision to legalize gambling way back in the mid-70s. While Atlantic City is still decaying in spots, the casinos have injected a new life into the city as a whole. With a Harrah's, Caesar's and several Trump casinos, younger folk ... Read more
are making their way back to 'America's Playground.' Atlantic City’s greatest asset and charm is still the boardwalk, the first of its kind in the United States (and, at over five miles, the world's longest). Eight of Atlantic City's 11 casinos are along this stretch of land, and there are several piers, each with their own attractions. Steel Pier features an amusement park, while Garden Pier houses the Atlantic City Historical Museum (where you can see evidence of Atlantic City's brighter past). One of Atlantic City's highlights is that hotel rooms can be ridiculously cheap, and gorging at the all-you-can-eat buffets will help you earn back some of that money you lost on the slot machines.

I loved this place. Its like Vegas but with a beach flair! I went in November, so it was pretty dead around but it was still beautiful. Cant wait to visit again!

Atlantic beaches come with a big bonus –they’re free. No beach tags required. The boardwalk is just steps away when you've had enough of the surf and sand.

Well, Atlantic City has lost its charm, if it ever had one. When I was there (summer of 2014), it was a ghost city. Many casinos had closed their doors and streets were sketchy. I hope it bounces back...

Atlantic city has a nice beach that is clean although public and free. Nice place to have a break during weekend if you live close by major city's at the east coast . Casinos are well known here but ocean is always good place to be in summer .

About 45 minutes away. It's a great trip on a rainy day for gambling or outlet shopping. Also great nightlife like concerts and comedy shows.
