Auckland Vacations

Situated on an isthmus, bordered with two harbors and on top of a volcanic field, which is still partially active, Auckland has nevertheless been judged one of the world’s most livable cities. second official language of New Zealand after English. A large number of yachts grace the two harbors while the city itself is dotted with volcanic cones upon which cows and sheep graze, while humans can hike to the stop for a lovely view, like Mount Eden. For cafe life, head to Vulcan Ln. Auckland is said to be at its best in the early morning, when the air is calm and the vibe peaceful, while art galleries, parks, sport (rugby and cricket are both popular) are all accessible to the residents in this affordable, approachable city.

Though New Zealand is beautiful it's very very expensive to travel and stay at hotels or motels. They should think about that before inviting tourism.

I really loved it when I was there 9 years ago and I’ve always wanted to come back. It’s so fresh and free.

Stayed in West Auckland for a month. Been to Welly, Rotorua, Hamilton, Mt.Rhuapehu and would totally come back. I've met so many people, they will def treat you so well. Can't get enough of food, everything is very nice. Love seeing green everywhere. I love Mew Zealand! Will see you again soon!

Auckland is fun and (surprisingly) busy city that we both really liked. I know you guys were torn in the comments about whether to dedicate time there or not – but the appeal of a few good restaurants was too much to bear! I loved our road trip – the food, the people and the scenery. Although, if you can I would add two days to this itinerary, I think it would give you the time you need to really explore

Most of the population of New Zealand live in and around the city of Auckland but New Zealand is not known for its cities. I spent about a week in Auckland total on three different stops. It's a cute little city to spend a day or two in but I wouldn't concentrate a trip to NZ in the city.

Auckland is a busy modern city with an amazing array of things to do, see and experience. Stunning natural beauty mixes well with the sophistication of 21st century urban hub.

Only spent 2 nights here while passing through. Such a shame I didn't get to spend any longer here. Friendly locals and 2 great nights spent in the bars down by the waterfront.

This is the biggest city in all of New Zealand with 1.5 million people. Home to the University of Auckland, AUT as well as museums and cultural centres this is the place to go. As it's not representative of the whole country do make your way out to the country where things are more beautiful!

Auckland City is on New Zealand's North Island. We visited close to Christmas season so the CBD has Christmas decorations and Christmas lights on the evening adding to the charm of the city. The city feels most like a major town centre than a major capital because it is relaxed and tranquil. So what are the best things to do whilst in Auckland? I think visiting the various Islands such as Waiheke, Rangitoto which are within 1hr ferry ride from Auckland for day trips. Spending an afternoon and evening walking on the Viaduct as the sun sets, exploring the CBD one night and try different cuisines such as Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Moroccan. Grab a drink or two at the wharf side pubs. Or go sailing on the harbour on a day with good weather. There is definitely more to Auckland than meets the eye, you just have to make the most of your experience and stay at this relaxed city.
