Very beautiful hotel inside and out. I especially admired the holiday decorations.

Talk about True Texan: cowhide furniture, rustic woods, and friendly people a stone's throw from the Capitol. Driskill Grill is a spendy splurge for celebrations.

This is a super swanky hotel that has a very sophisticated feel. I've been in the lobby here quite a few times during SXSW. It's a nice retreat from the heat, but alas, I've never stayed here.

Great location. Wonderful staff. Very quiet but dark suite facing a wall that made for a very peaceful room.
On 6th Street and Brazos so it's right at the edge of all the bars, restaurants, and music venues of "dirty sixth".
Sadly, there seems to be something missing in the experience. Rooms lack charm. Renovations seem like they were done by students moonlighting, kind of HGTV home flipping quality. Returned from being out for the day and room was not serviced. Tried calling housekeeping, no answer.
I think they can try harder. (Update: remainder of our stay, housekeeping was very attentive and prompt, the first day must have been a fluke, thank you)
A coffee table in the seating area would be nice.

This historical hotel is very beautiful on the inside and outside. Located downtown, it is a favorite to stay at for tourists and even for locals wanting a "staycation". The cocktail lounge is pretty awesome, and while I haven't eaten at the restaurant, I've heard it's pretty good. This hotel is great for events like weddings as well. Some say The Driskill is haunted, and there are even tours that tell you the story of the hauntings here.

If you’re still thirsting for a more historical haunted fun after taking one of the haunted tours. The Driskill Hotel is one of the most haunted hotels in in Texas and some say the most haunted hotel in North America. The hotel was founded and built in 1886 by Col. Jesse Driskill who some say you may encounter his ghostly presence while staying at the hotel. The most haunted room is #525 where two woman 20 years apart committed suicide on their honeymoon. The most haunted floor is the 4th where the hotel staff has reported a woman crying when there is no one occupying the floor. The last haunted story is of the daughter of a senator where she past away after an accident of playing with a ball on the grand staircase

Located in the famed Sixth Street area of downtown Austin, The Driskill is a perfect choice if you want to stay at a conveniently located, non-chain, historic hotel. This is a luxury hotel and a member of The Historic Hotels of America. Built over a century ago, The Driskill is restored regularly to maintain its old charm and character, while meeting contemporary expectations. The Driskill is completely non-smoking. Entertainment here includes a variety of live music in the bar, a bakery-cafe (serving from morning until late night) and the multi-award winning Driskill Grill. A visit to The Driskill is worth it, even if you are staying elsewhere. Stop in for a drink, live music, or a great meal. I highly recommend it.

Expensive, fancy, ornate and historic. The Driskill is one of Austin's prize properties, and has housed many a famous guest during SXSW and film festivals. It has hosted presidents. It dates back to 1886, and was the place for a cattle Barron to show off his wealth.

Beautiful and historic hotel from the 1800's right on Austin's bustling 6th st. The hotel has a very classy bar with live piano music and excellent happy hour deals; as well, they have a delicious full service restaurant.

A combination of all things Austin, The Driskill is one of downtown's crowned jewels, not only for its historic architecture, but its refined atmosphere and renowned culinary and hospitality services. Rooms and common areas are glamorous and outfitted with antiques and other assorted Texas decor, but the clientele isn't necessary stuffy. The location is only a block away from Sixth Street and the famed nightlife vibe can easily spill into the hotel on busy weekends and annual festivals, like SXSW. The Driskill Grill serves up to-die-for breakfasts and the bar is always a chic place for a pre-dinner cocktail.

The Driskill is a smashing balance of luxury and history. A swanky spot right in the middle of the Sixth street action, The Driskill's bar is always a great place to meet people and the breakfast is superb. My favorite part was definitely the unique view out of my room window of rooftop bars and, further out, the Austin skyline.

I love this hotel! My corner room was stunning! While they say it is haunted, I did not encounter any ghosts. I thought the service, the bar, and the beauty of the old establishment was just amazing. A true texan feel

I came here a few years ago and still remember how good the food tasted.

We had an early dinner and made the reservations the day of. It was a spur of the moment decision to eat here and they accommodated us very well considering it was fourth of July weekend. This place was just down the street from our hotel in downtown Austin and was a quick drive. We parked on the street, which had plenty of space.

As I entered the hotel, I felt totally underdressed. This place was definitely fine dining status. (Obviously I didn't know that considering we made reservations from our hotel just the day of from a restaurant guide.) Any way, the restaurant is small but gorgeously decorated. It was an anniversary I celebrated with an old flame, and the hostess gave us a nice intimate table in the corner.

For the first course I had the pistachio scallops. I can honestly say that, that was the best scallop that I have ever eaten ever, just juicy, tasty and simply delicious. (As you can tell, the portions are small there.) For the second course I had the lobster which was magically delicious. And finally for dessert, I had the apple tart. The waitress was so nice that she had the cooks in the back write "Happy Anniversary" on the plate for me.

Lastly I want to say that the service is remarkable. Attentive and nice enough to cater to any need as you can tell. If you're willing to spend a lot of money for some well made food, you should drop by here!

The historic Driskill hotel is a must-visit in Austin, even if you don't stay here. Chock-full of history, as well as ghosts, the concierge told me about mirrors in one of the ballrooms that are made of diamonds and cause your reflection to sparkle. The vintage rooms are really great with stocked bookcases in the hallways lined with ornate-framed paintings. The Texas opulence extends to the cow-hide draped bar furniture and the statuary depicting cowboys wrangling longhorns. 6th Street is the party part of town, so be sure to request a room on the north side of the hotel if you need quiet to sleep.

Old school classic Austin hotel. If I had a picture in my head of what an upscale classy classic western hotel in the heart of Texas looked like, this would be it. The room was great, and the service was excellent. The bar downstairs was apparently newly renovated as well. So cool! Lots of wood, leather furniture, and obligatory bull horns, but it wasn't nearly as cheesy as that sounds.
