one of Lamar 6's six screens. Kick back (but not too far, there are other people trying to watch the movie too) and have a beer (on tap) or enjoy a meal off the Drafthouse's menu, cooked by their own in-house chef. The theater opens at 6pm and plays contemporary films. Typical admission is ten dollars.

I love the Alamo Drafthouse cinemas! This location has a really nice venue. They keep ppl from talking/texting during films and you can order fantastic food and drinks throughout the show. Boozey milkshakes and queso make for a good time!

My boyfriend and I went to see a movie for our 1 year anniversary- We arrived 1 minute late for our movie (tickets purchased ahead of time) Replie (server) stopped us from walking into the theater and aggressively blocked us from walking through the door. She then directed me to the front lobby. I Spoke to Michael (manager) and he was just as rude and unwilling to help... told me that their policy is to not allow anyone in after the movie has started because of the "expectation that they set for their customers" (I checked on the Alamo Drafthouse website and couldn't find anything about this policy), he said that his servers are trained to be quiet and duck down low... I'm not sure why he assumes we would walk into the theater any other way, but he didn't care to hear what I had to say anyway. The entire staff was rude and unwilling to budge on this ridiculous "policy" - so we left. I felt like I was treated unfairly and I don't believe any paying customer should be spoken to in such a condescending manner. I never plan on returning to Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar.

I suggest your staff be better trained on customer service, because the way I was spoken to and treated for trying to attend a movie I had already paid for was absolutely uncalled for. I was able to pull my ticket from the kiosk in the lobby so I should be able to walk into the theater. If your policy is actually as strict as your staff said it was then there should be a safeguard on your kiosks to prevent customers from receiving their tickets and your policies should be clearly listed on your website also!

I like the selection of movies. The food is tasty but pricy, and it is stuffy, they could use better ventilation.

With comfy seating and a large menu, Alamo Drafthouse is great. But the best part are their themed nights - they'll have sing-along nights to some of your favorite musicals AND quote-alongs to iconic comedies such as Dumb and Dumber. They'll even at times fit their menu to the movie.

This is a cool spot to watch a movie and grab dinner. But know that the wait staff are paid the same as restaurant servers so don't forget to tip

Comfortable seating, real food, "big-screen" theatre. Use Fandango for tickets; serves adults beverages; children must sit w/ adults

Alamo Drafthouse has given a new name to movie theatres. Enjoy a beer, glass of wine and/or a meal while you watch a great movie. Lest than 5 miles away!

Local in that it has plenty of parking and a good good on site. Come early. Previews and pre shows are always worth it.

Alamo is the best place to see a movie. You can place food and beverage (incl. wine and beer) orders with your waiter during the movie.

The newly remodeled Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar has recently re-opened. It's a 5 minute walk from the house. It's a challenge to decide whether to eat during the movie or at one of the amazing restaurants nearby!

There are Alamo Drafthouse locations all over the city. Check out this Austin original for movie/TV screening events or just catch whatever is playing and enjoy food and a beer while you watch.

Once of the best place to catch a flick with full food and drink services in Austin. Funky Weird Indie vibe that's uniquely Austin.

This is the place that started the get-served-dinner-and-drinks-IN-the-theater trend. Great movies, good food, ushers that won't let talkers ruin your movie. Enjoy!

Sadly, this location is currently closed for construction. Should be back open sometime in 2014.

Closed until Fall 2014 for remodeling - but a great place to have dinner while watching first run movies.

WHY, oh WHY, can't we have Alamo Drafthouse in California??? I love Alamo- who doesn't love watching a movie with tasty food and/or tasty alcohol in front of them? This was a fave venue for movie-going when I lived here- and the food is yummy too. I also had a particular fondness for their sangrias... Whatever your movie tastes, you can find something here. Along with most new releases, they always have special events, such as "The Big Lebowski" Quote-Along, the Buffy Sing-Along, and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" synced to "The Wizard of Oz"- just to name a few. Quirky, crazy FUN. And then the food is shockingly delicious! Sure, you may not feel like eating while watching "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (didn't stop me!), but you can still drink! Most beers have the option of ordering a "bucket"- bottles usually- and they have fun, unique, and always changing choices. (Get that pitcher of sangria- trust me...) The menu always has new and tasty specials. I used to love the Chinese chicken salad here. On my last visit in October, I tried the Bat Wings: Asian-style wings with a yummy spice to them, while watching (appropriately) "Let Me In". Mmmm, wings... Anyway, Alamo is a fun solution to the dinner-and-a-movie equation- do them both at the same time! And for those old-fashioned folks, you can also get a simple bucket of popcorn if you want.

One of the best movie theaters ever!!

Dinner and a movie on a comfy couch. Grab your girlfriends or a date and go.

Also - watch for their fun events, singalongs, and premieres!
