Michenor. The presentations also cover social realism and abstract expressionism as depicted by artists, such as Arturo Herrera, Jo Baer, Philip Evergood, Hans Hoffman, Peter Saul, Helen Frankenthaler, Jim Dine and more. While not on par with the other museums in Houston or Dallas, the Blanton provides a sufficient place to see some great works. UT students are free and regular admission is pretty cheap.

Small museum, half of it is undergoing renovations until March 2017, but exceptional exhibitions of Andy Warhol and Xu Bing make this a quick, quirky little stop if near the university.

Wonderful museum of art. It happened to be free when I visited. The Goya exhibit was excellent. I highly recommend this museum.

A great place to get lost for the afternoon. When you enter the commons, you may feel like you're encased in water because the entire foyer is an installation meant to make the viewer feel like they are surrounded by h2o.

You can travel through classic art rooms, onto modern frontiers, play with thousands of pennies from the same year and walk through replicas of famous statues from around the world.

I checked them out on their free Thursday, little gallery, with a student concert. I felt it was a fairly small place, but it is a beautiful gallery.

The Blanton Museum of Art, located on the south side of the University of Texas campus, is a notable leader of the local art community, with striking collections of contemporary and traditional exhibits. But make sure and visit on a Thursday, when admission is free and special tours and events, like free yoga classes are offered. The museum's cafe, located just across the courtyard from the museum's main entrance, also has a small menu of affordable food and drinks, including beer and wine.

The Blanton Museum of Art is at the top as far as most visited and best liked attractions in the surprisingly vibrant city of Austin, Texas. Operated under the authority of the University of Texas at Austin, the expansive halls of this gallery contain a huge number of priceless works of art, with fresh exhibitions arriving regularly. American, South American, and European art is particularly focused upon here. If you wish to see the entire collection, you'll be happy to find a cafe where you can recharge yourself along the way. Otherwise, consider joining up with a guide who will cater your experience around your artistic interests, because it'll take a while to see every piece.
