Baden-Baden Vacations

Baden-Baden is a beautiful German spa town bordering the famed Black Forest. The town sits atop a series of natural hot springs, which have been put to use for health and leisure since Roman times. The baths (baden means bathing in German) pair with elaborate casinos to cast a sheen of elegance and luxury on the town, and high rollers will find ... Read more
themselves at home immediately. But, in the likely case you are not in that category, Baden Baden still has plenty to offer and is a widely adored vacation destination. The town is full of trees and green spaces, lending it an open and fresh feeling which many take advantage of as they play golf or tennis. Stroll through the streets to discover the many fantastic sites and local establishments on offer. The most prominent among them are the casino (Spielbank) and the bath complexes. The casino comes straight out of a James Bond film, with gilt-painted ceilings and an old school feel, and has been the ruin of multiple famous figures, including author Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Choose between ancient Roman baths, now a museum, or modern, usable bathhouses. Or better yet, do both! Other attractions include multiple museums, the “new” and “old” castles, churches and tombs, and gardens, the best of which is “The Paradise” which is filled with trick fountains. The town’s location in Germany means the food is mostly hearty noodle dishes, including Spatzle, and meat in creamy sauces. Baden Baden is far from many of the most popular international German destinations (Berlin, Munich etc) but should not be overlooked by anyone interested in relaxing in a beautiful location.

Baden Baden, meaning Bathing is a spa town built on thermal springs at the edge of the Black Forest. My friend and I rode with another event organiser colleague in the Wellness Industry from Wiesbaden to Baden Baden. We had to see what the city has to offer and it surely was all about health and wellness. More than that, I loved the open spaces, greenery and beautiful parks of the city. Its a fairly compace farm and we just walked to the Old Town from our luxury hotel.

I loved Baden-Baden because of the hot springs/cold springs/spas that are a huge part of the Baden-Baden experience. From a rushing river that pushes one along, to an ice-cold waterfall, Baden-Baden's springs offer a multitude of ways to have fun in the water. Baden-Baden is also home to casinos and is very near to the former house of Brahms, which is very interesting to visit.

Spent a weekend here with a boyfriend back in February 2009. The bathing is terrific, the scenery is beautiful, and the food is decent. Would go back, but have to admit in retrospect it is aimed more at fifty-somethings than thirty-somethings.

Home of the story -Hansel and Gretel- beautiful green forest-rolling hills and very old quaint railroad station. Also known as the Black Forest.

The Upper Rhine Valley (which actually encompasses three countries: France, Germany and Switzerland), is without a doubt one of the most charming areas of Europe to explore. The spa town of Baden-Baden is a great stop on any route, but for more detailed info about routes through the Germanic portion of the valley, go to: www.upperrhinevalley.com

It 'was my first trip to Germany, which I've never been particularly attracted to, but after Baden Baden has become one of my top destinations.

From the small airport, you arrive in Baden Baden on the bus, even after twenty minute ride.
Passing through woods and small clusters, which give some clues about how life takes place daily.

First, the care of people: there is no trace of signs of neglect or disrespect (for comparison, I had to struggle hard to find graffiti on the walls of houses, or paper and bottles thrown somewhere).

Then have a beautiful bike path and a significant discipline behind the wheel.
These things I have seemed "out of the ordinary" for the simple fact that a couple of years I live in Rome for work.

Once in Baden Baden, the bus stops in the city's central square, and Leopoldsplatz, and a short walk from here, I reach for my accommodation.

The evening is devoted to a tour of the city center, in particular Augustaplatz visit the fountain and the main course.

For dinner, I decide to eat in a very romantic place, all lit with a terrace that makes Christmas so much, the Gasthaus Lowenbrau.
Plus a nice atmosphere, the restaurant offers a good regional cuisine and Bavarian. As well as a great beer ...

The next day I devoted to the discovery of the Black Forest, a stroll in the woods around Lake Mummelsee.

Describing the beauty of the place is impossible, because it is a small lake formed by the melting of some glaciers, surrounded by pine trees, with some refreshment and a nice dock to sit and enjoy the view.

Baden Baden is definitely more famous as a spa town than anything else, where should go especially in winter when bathing outdoors is truly a unique experience.

For breakfast, lunch fundamental for me, I highly recommend the cafe-bakery overlooking the Leopoldsplatz. Simply amazing!

You can spend the evening with a stroll around the river Oos, Theatre and the Casino, which, however, recommend you visit during the day, because they are near a beautiful park.

Стоит приехать ради знаменитых горячих источников! Правда с маленькими детьми туда не пускают! Архитектура и душевная атмосфера тихого городка впечатлила!
