Mandarin Oriental is 4-star hotel and it is situated in town area. The amenities and service are very satisfied. They also provide free breakfast and have restaurants.

What can one say about The Oriental that hasn't been said already? It is one of Bangkok's finest hotels and it prides itself on being so. The service is second to none and the quality of the place is evident for all those who step into the grand lobby. A great deal of time has gone into the presentation of this place. The rooms are generous in size, the standard rooms are even spacious, and the furnishings are to be beholden. Loved it, but it comes at a price. If you are a luxury traveller, this is the place to be - if only for the excellent riverside location. The restaurant (Lord Jim's) is one of the better dining experiences in Bangkok

I've visited Bangkok more than 20 times over the last 10 years but had never stayed at the Oriental. For this visit, I decided it was finally time to check out the property. Unfortunately, by Bangkok luxury hotel standards, I found it to be very disappointing.

First, the postives:

- Excellent location on the Chao Phraya river
- Lovely modernized pool area with attractive shaded day beds
- Superb Concierge, front desk staff, and butler service
- Opportunity to stay in a historical property

For the negatives:

- Very poor quality food and beverage service -- slow to take orders, very inflexible, unfriendly / surly wait staff
- Breakfast buffet was sub-par by Bangkok luxury hotel standards -- expensive but with a limited offering and few distinctive touches
- Dated rooms and interior public spaces -- this property really shows its age
- Poor value for money given that other luxury properties offer a better experience at significantly lower rates

The biggest disappointment for me was the quality of service offered by the food and beverage staff at the Verandah. The wait times on ordering, being served and getting checks were very long. With only one exception, we also felt that the staff at the Verandah were actually surly which is unheard of in Bangkok.

My experiences at the Sukhothai, Peninsula and Conrad have been far superior to my experience at the Oriental. Though it may be tempting to stay at the Oriental because of its reputation, I'd highly recommend these other properties. The Oriental may still seem impressive by Western standards, but it is not competitive for Bangkok and the property certainly doesn't deserve the premium that it charges vs. these truly 5 star hotels.

I think this was my first really high end hotel. The service is impeccable here, want a reservation at a restaurant, done. Tickets tonight for Thai Boxing, done. The rooms are beautiful and the pool by the river is a great place to chill out and relax.

By far the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in, Asian standards are just way higher than the western world. You have a private butler and a literal easy button for any request you could possibly need. Mine actually left me little gifts/ surprises every night.

I didn't get to stay at the Oriental, but I had dinner there. It's a great setting right on the river with a thai dancing show. From the parts I saw, it was very nice.

Its definitely a favorite. I like the Penninsula rooms too but the convenience of being on the Mandarin's side of the river makes it perfect. The Mandarin Spa is also really, really nice. Beautiful matched by a great staff.

The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, with its glorious history saturated in the richness of this legendary city combined with a cutting-edge approach to modern luxury, is an extreme experience in its own right. It dazzles while it pampers, it excites while it relaxes, and above all, it fulfills your every whim with the effortless grace of a truly old-world hotel, definitive of its brand of luxury. It is a world all its own, that you can slip into from the buzzing, overwhelming universe of the city that surrounds it. It will nurture you in a way that will leave a lasting impression–a rare lotus whose heady fragrance stays with you long after you leave.

You are greeted with chains of fragrant flowering orchids, and a traditional welcoming drink of lemongrass and ginger. Immediately, the hot, stickiness of travel evaporates, and a sigh escapes your lips—a sigh that will soon become like a mantra uttered each time you arrive on the threshold of the Mandarin Oriental.

The best part of traveling to a place like Bangkok is the mind-blowing wealth of experiences that embrace you. The best part of staying at the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, is knowing that the world is at your fingertips, immediately accessible as soon as you set foot on the threshold. Yet, that in a heartbeat you can also have the quiet serenity of the hotel’s countenance—where you can just as instantly relax into the calm, stunning luxury of your temporary home. At the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, the world is your oyster, but you are staying in its pearl.
