There is so much to see in the forbidden city you need to dedicate a whole day to it, and you still may not get round to seeing everything. We walked into the first courtyard and thought it was pretty big. We then realised we'd not even gone into the forbidden city proper... Get one of the audio guides if you can, it will chime in when you get to an interesting area and tell you all about it in your choice of language.
If you do one thing in Beijing go to the forbidden city.

Impressive and amazing to see the Arts & Crafts works of building architecture. Chinese have talents and imagination to build the building as beautiful and grand as palace. Must visit if came to Beijing.
