This was home to the 2008 Olympic swimming pool, where the famous Michael Phelps had his infamous 8 gold medal streak and impressed the world. It has been transformed into an aquatic playground for kids, with a wave pool, lazy river, huge tubes and slides. There is also a training area within the 50meter pool where you can get some serious exercise in. This pool was were the athletes trained laps during the Olympic games, so it’s quite exciting to think of those that swam the same waters as you. There are big bright colours inside the water cube, and the atmosphere is great for kids and parties. Whether you want to have some fun on the slides, or you’re interested in training at an iconic Olympic swimming pool this is a perfect spot to do so.

Pretty cool to tour where the Olympics were held in Beijing. They have done a really good job maintaining and keeping it relevant for use years after the games

One of the most unusual buildings that I have ever seen. During the day it is not that impressive, but at night when it is lit up with the different colors it really comes alive!

I came to the national aquatic center (aka. The Water Cube) after the Olympics has ended. It's beautiful at night, the blue lights shining from inside and out makes it look like a bubbly cube suspended and holding itself together somehow. It now hosts various water shows in the main stadium, we attended Swan Lake - a joint performance by both Chinese and Russian ballet dancers and synchronized swimmers. It was wonderful! The best way to get cheap ticket is actually buying it from scalpers outside the stadium the night before (and bargaining of course).

We made a photo stop at the "Bird Nest" and the "Water Cube", the main stadiums of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The exteriors of the architectures were absolutely stunning, modern marvels built in a country already full of ancient wonders of human achievement!

Better at night. The bubble-idea is great. But it is now falling apart and inside it's dirty and run down. Impressive architecture though, from the outside.

Really cool to see. It is now a water park. Check out the gift store and bathrooms. Its amazing they got by with such primitive bathrooms.

The water cube is pretty cool from the outside, especially at night, but the inside is way better. Since 2010, the water cube contains a water theme park with around 12 slides and everything a modern water park has to have. When the blue lights of the water cube are activated at night, you feel like the whole park is under water.

They have made an indoor water park in here now. I will totally go there next time.

The National Aquatic Center (水立方) is a wonderfully designed swim center that was made famous and widely recognizable from the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games. Today, it is opened to the public for viewing (at the Olympic sized pool and diving board), lap swimming (in the athlete's practice/warm up pool), and in a separate section, playing (in its own indoor water park). Both the interiors and exteriors are really cool! (especially on a really hot day)

It is magnificent! I visited it during the 2008 Olympic Games and saw Michael Phelps competing there! Looking from the outside, there are many bubbles that make you want to pop them. At night, you can enjoy a light show seeing those bubble changing colors. Inside the stadium, there are a lot of cool features as well, e.g. waterfall wall, pond etc.
