So much shopping! You can go into the modern mall type stores here, or you can be a bit more adventurous and check out the food stalls. Here you will find the crazy deep fried insects that you thought you would see all over China because that is what they show on TV shows. So go ahead and try some...if you dare!

Nice area to walk around at night, full of shops and restaurants. Stayed a few blocks away from it near the train station.

Really nice place, there's a small street where all sorts of typical Chinese snacks are sold, really lights up in the evening. As a plus they have forever 21!!

Wang Fu Jing feels like the heart of Beijing. It is the central shopping district for locals and tourists alike. There is a wide range of stores but most of them are higher priced. There are even a couple large shopping malls that are hidden inside large business buildings.

Great people watching! Lots of options for shopping and eating. Be sure to visit the 'treat street' and also the night food stands.

As an adventurist in eating, Beijing offered a large variety of the most exotic foods that will shock and awe the average diner. We went to Donghuamen Night Market in Wangfujing, a night market located in the northern end of Wangfujing in Beijing, China, where we founds a row of unusual food stalls. An array of Chinese food delicacies were on display with people bustling around to experience some new tastes. Aside from the typical seafood and various meats on sticks, you can also find exotic bugs and other animals that should be featured on Fear Factor, such as deep fried insects: crickets, dragonflies, centipedes, silk worm chrysalis & scorpions, sea snake, fried starfish, dog, shark, crawfish, frog, etc - kebab-style! There were also the more widely recognized Western foods such as spring rolls, dumplings, crab cakes, and candy fruit, to name a few, for the not so brave. All the food is displayed raw and can be deep fried in a large Wok upon request. The curry shark was quite tasteful. The fried starfish tasted somewhat bland and had a sort of chewy texture that was not enjoyable. The sea snake tasted remarkably like calamari. Surprisingly, the silk-worm chrysalis tasted quite good, being very juicy! Wash it down with some drinkable Chinese yogurt, and you have some tasty snacks! I don't EAT to Live - I LIVE to Eat!!!

Wang Fu Jing is one of the main shopping districts in Beijing. It's modern, it's busy, and there's tons of department stores to keep you distracted. I personally find the clothes to be outdated, but it's a good place to sightsee. Plus, the food market is close by and you get to see all kinds of exotic goodies, including cooked scorpions!

Central Beijing's premiere district for upscale shopping, the Wangfujing area plays host to some of the city's best bookstores, the Beijing Department Store, and a higher concentration of western brands than anywhere else. While its famous night market offers mostly gross-out fare like starfish and skewered scorpions, the street's also home to the Quanjude Peking Duck restaurant, and a number of actual "Chinese" stores amidst the Adidas and Nike stores. Certainly not the capital's most characterful shopping, but worth a wander when you're in the neighborhood of Tiananmen and the Forbidden City.

For an evenig stroll this area is fine, but for shopping it is not. The shops are overpriced, it can get crowded and Wangfujing Street itself turn into a circus at night. See it as part of a visit to the night market, but unless you have plenty of time in Beijing do not waste too much time here.

Asia is known for malls, Wang Fu Jing is not an exception, though this is one of the most popular ones in all of Beijing.

if you are a fan of any foods on a stick, this is the place for you. it is the main tourist shopping street in beijing where you can get grasshoppers, starfishes, crickets, tomatoes and any number of other "snacks" on a stick. a lot of the weird foods are more novel than tasty. i got into an argument with a shady vendor who took my money for one type of coconut, gave me another type of higher priced coconut, waited for me to drink from the higher priced coconut and screamed and shouted at me for shorting him. therefore, make sure to be clear on what you are buying so that you don't get scammed.

Great neighborhood to browse both day time and night time. There are malls with many modern stores and many traditional stores in this colorful and crowded shopping area. Wang Fu Jing is a fun (even though touristy) area to explore.

If you want to see some interesting food.... and by interesting I mean, tarantulas, insects, sea horses, spiders (yes, people EAT this stuff).... well you get the point. This short and narrow street is not to be missed! Oh and the insects really do taste like chicken.... (I know from experience!)

One of the largest pedestrian streets in Beijing, there is an endless amount of restaurants and shops here. My favorite little food stall was the one where they had all these insects on skewers that they then fried right before you eat them. I was brave enough to try the scorpion, but there were also some very meaty bugs that I did not have the stomach for.

There are also a ton of famous Chinese brands that are sold here.

It has traditionally been the shopping area for foreigners and out of towers. It is always so crowded and now the shops are mostly big malls that don't have anything special to offer. You can walk around the pedestrian only street for 30 minutes to get a sense of the area and then exit as soon as you can.

I always liked the bookstore here; I bought a poster of Zhou Enlai there. There's an old restored Christian church up the road and a surreal western mall at the metro stop. Not a destination by any means, but if you're a foreigner living in Beijing, you'll end up here at some point, for something or other.
