We stopped in Belize on June 1st via the Carnival Dream. We were a little apprehensive about even getting off of the boat as Carnival seems to want to scare you half to death about getting out of the tourism village area. We did venture on and the meeting place for our excursion was very close to where we got off of the tender from Carnival. The boat was a nice big boat and soon we were all suited up with our snorkeling gear and ready to go. The staff was very friendly and Javier was especially helpful to my 7 year old son once we were actually snorkeling. My son had never been before and was having a bit of a rough time at first but Javier was very patient and helped him overcome his initial problems and enjoy his experience. The coral reef was beautiful and the sting rays and sharks were large and friendly. The staff pointed out some dolphins and stopped the boat so everyone could see them on our way to the coral reef. They also brought up a shell with a crab in it for all the children to see.

Caye Caulker was absolutely gorgeous! Too bad we couldn't have spent more time there. It was like being on your own private island paradise. We had the included lunch option and it was good, however, my husband who is a more adventurous eater, would have preferred to try more of the local dishes rather than the safer bet of the chicken sandwich.

This was the Shark/Ray Alley Snorkeling And Caye Caulker Exploration

Bannister Island is a small, secluded caye with a simple bar, beach chairs and kayaks. The water is clear and the beach, while it does have shells, is not uncomfortable to walk on without water shoes. If your feet are sensitive wear water shoes and you'll have no problem.

The use of the floating mats and kayaks are at no additional charge. When we went we were the only ship tendering that day and there was plenty of space for everyone. I can see where it would have been unpleasant if that tiny island was crowded. You can go to cruiseportinsider.com and choose your port to see how many ships are scheduled to be in port at the same time. While I would return to Bannister Island if, once again, we were the only ship in port, I would not do so if there were several ships in port.

Small island which is basically a beach. Bar, snack place and gift shop available. A lot of nice shells on the beach.
