Vancouver

I am considering moving to this town or the surrounding areas. I am a beer geek so this town would be a perfect fit for me and my family. Plus I reside in Vancouver WA where it is almost always raining and it would be a nice change of weather!

An outdoor enthusiast's dream city. Abundant outdoor recreation nearby (Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort, mountain biking trails, rock climbing at Smith Rock, paddle boarding in the City and more! Great small city with restaurants any foodie would love. Bend has more micro breweries per capita than any other city in the USA.

Beer and snow go hand-in-hand in this town, which counts 12 breweries and two more opening in Spring 2013 along what’s been dubbed the Bend Ale Trail. Is it any wonder the population’s rising? The compact historic downtown fits in an impressive number of Craftsman-style bungalows, galleries, and innovative restaurants (look out for Boken and Zydeco Kitchen & Cocktails). And while Bend receives less than 12 inches of rain annually, Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort gets an average of 400 inches of snow. Do the math, and you’ve got a prime destination for all kinds of adventure; Smith Rock State Park is a premier rock-climbing destination with 14,000 climbing routes, while many golf courses and fly-fishing outfitters are open all four seasons.

Micro brew, skiing, mountain biking, white water rafting and the list goes on. It is all right at your finger tips. A town which has experienced much growth over the last 5-10 years. With the Redmond airport just north of town, you can make great connections to this adventure gateway.

Bend has amazing places to go skiing and snowboarding thanks to Mount Bachelor. The snow should cover the mountains by the time you drive up to Portland in November, so if you can, I would advise taking a day or two and go skiing or snowboarding.

Bend is a great place for outdoor activities of all sorts, especially those involving snow.

This is kind of a resort town, and I admittedly was only there for a day, but I would say what it lacks in diversity (the whole town is kind of a Patagonia ad), it makes up for with one cute tea house, a steamy little bath-house in a funky inn, and high-quality breweries.

First time there, beautiful area, every outdoor sport imaginable is within a 10 minute drive from town. Great downtown area with quaint restaurants and shops, right on the Deschutes River. Planning on returning in November!

At the base of mountains and surrounded by National Parks, you are bound to have fun in the outdoors here. The drive from the coast to Bend is amazing and there are plenty of cheap places to stay once you get there.
