We LOVED the local Bergen market! Lots of great options and things to see and try...and buy!

A fantastic way to see this seaside town in action with a variety of food and trinkets. Also a great place to try some of the local traditional dishes, such as reindeer and whale.

After every vendor gave us a sample, I'd ask, “What is your favorite out of all of these fish?” and then they would bring out their favorite and give us another sample. That is a really great question to ask when hoping for more free samples. Then, we got to try whale! Whale meat is very dark. It is sort of a red-wine color when raw, and when cooked it takes on a look the color of beef-steak. We were given samples of it cooked.

It was the first time I try whale meat. Bergen is amazing place and a must visit in Norway. Reach it by "Norway in a nutshell" tour from Oslo.

This is a very active part of the port area of Bergen. Lots of seafood vendors and souvenir kiosks. The food is not cheap but is very fresh. The area seems to be busy all the time, fun just to walk through. Free WiFi at the tourist office.

Torget i Bergen is Bergens main fish market. It is open air, right on the main harbor, and you can sample all sorts of amazing food, from fresh crab to halibut to even whale (although please don't eat the latter). Very fun place to grab lunch.

Bergen market is great, and if you love fish even better. Here you can sample beautiful fresh salmon, loads of different types of caviar, whale meat and even Elk salami if you dare. When you get really hungry, but some fish and chips and sit overlooking the water and watch the boats coming and going.

Although filled with delicious looking food and fish, it was hard to enjoy the open market while I was in Bergen due to heavy rains. It's certainly a nice day activity.

The Bergen Market is located right in the center of the city, next to the harbor. It’s an open air market, with stands selling fruits and vegetables, various other produce, as well as crafts. But the highlight of the market is fish (and other seafood) – ranging from fresh catch to smoked/prepared in many different ways. This is a great place to have lunch. Walk around, see what you like, order it and eat right there. Or you can buy it and take to your hotel (that’s what we did). You can sample your fish/caviar before you buy. You can also ask them to make you a lunch platter with various fish samplings – be aware that some fish could be very expensive, so check the price before ordering. You can buy beer there but you are not allowed to walk away from the market with it (in case you are planning to take it to your hotel) – they open your beer bottle right there. If you are planning to take some fish home (if your country allows to bring such food), they can vacuum pack it for you and wrap it, so it will safely survive the flight.

这里是穷游,由于预算不是很充裕,猜测鱼市场会很贵,所以多次路过都没有去问价。离开前一天还是好奇大螃蟹的味道,询价之后发现在接受范围内,于是吃吃吃。很高兴没有留下遗憾
