regular site of Berkley traditions like pre-game rallies and graduation ceremonies. The theater is designed in the tradition of the Greek amphitheatre, with tiered seating that affords each seat with equal acoustic reception. Behind the concrete seating rows is a large lawn perfect for lounging during more relaxed performances.

Amazing outdoor venue to see concerts. It’s got steep sides to give it an intimate feel.

My absolute favorite outdoor venue in the Bay Area. Tucked into the hillside of UC Berkeley's Northside campus area, you'll get amazing acoustics from this local treasure. On a warm Summer night, there's nothing better than enjoying some tunes, outside, with 9,000 of your closest friends.

The seating may not be comfortable as it's a concrete venue, but a couple comfy blankets and you're good to go!

There are restroom facilities at the venue, but they are by no means glamorous. They'll do the job.

Awesome bands get booked here, so if you like music, CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!

The sound was amazing! Slightly stoopid at sunset could have not been more enjoyable. Wear sneakers since the hill is so steep

Be sure to bring a cushion to sit on. This is a concrete stadium. No seat backs to lean on. If you have a fold up seat with a back and no legs bring that too.

Also, bring a jacket or sweater and even a lap blanket for night time concerts.

Amazing venue. The acoustics alone are awesome! Really hard to get a bad seat in this place. Save money and get lawn tickets!

Generally it has great acoustics, and it is outdoors, and sometimes you roast in the sun, other times you freeze- sometimes it is just right. Bring a cushion for your tush and layers, including hats and you can enjoy many great concerts there.

This theater is amazing, you won't believe your eyes when you walk in there. First some history, the theater is named after William Randolph Hearst, a newspaper magnate that financed its construction back in 1903. The design replicates the ancient Greek theater of Epidaurus, which is why the acoustics are so great.
Nowadays, the theater is used for concerts, graduations and events, such as the annual Big Game Bonfire Rally before playing Stanford every year. Some of the famous personalities that have spoken at it are the Dalai Lama and U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt.
Don't miss out and book your next concert at the Hearst Greek Theater!

The Greek is a large venue that can seat 8,500 people. It's in Berkeley and is actually owned and operated by the local University of California, Berkeley. Being in a college town means it attracts a lot of students from the neighborhood. Greek is a fitting name due to it's design that is based on the ancient Greek theater of Epidaurus, according to the website. Big names play at the Greek and the venue also hosts jazz festivals, speaking engagements, and even graduation ceremonies. The venue is outside and uncovered, something to be aware of in case of in-climate weather.

The Greek Theater is my favorite large venue in the Bay Area. There's a large floor area if you want to get close to the stage. My favorite aspect is the large stone steps that gradually scale up the hill, which make it easy to see no matter how tall the person is in front of you. At the top of the hill is a grassy area for picnics and lawn sitting.

Almost all the performances are general admission, so you can pick your spot!

It's gorgeous and outdoors. I'm always wary about being so high up on these stone steps..

Just saw Placido Domingo there in September. You are out in the stars, open air. You are also on concrete benches so you need to bring a pad and a sweater.
Parking is $20. A wonderful experience. If you are at top level, there are two huge televisions to view up close performers. Recommended for Entertainment.

We saw a Shakespeare spoof here that was hilarious enough for our younger kids to get some good belly laughs. You can see everything from well-known bands giving concerts to first run plays to pretty much anything else. The ambience in the theater is unforgettable.

This is a really nice venue for shows in the Berkeley campus. They host some great shows from indie bands specially during summer, the place gets packed with young students, drinking, smoking joint and having fun, its a great atmosphere. The only downside is that parking can be a real challenge if your driving, other than that this place is fantastic.

I saw the band Kinky and Manu Chao at the Greek Theater a few years back and I had a ball. Parking is always tricky in Berkeley, but once you've parked, your concert adventures truly begin. I would highly recommend wearing flats or tennis shoes, the Berkeley area tends to be very hilly.

This theater has a great outdoor open space with lawn. Every time I see a concert here, I always have a good time.

If you go during the summer heat, just make sure to bring sunscreen and a hat during midday, or you might burn.
