The weird and wonderful side by side. It can get super crowded (sorry claustrophobic friend who literally ran out in a panic) but there's a cool vibe. I've never bought anything here but there are a variety of vendors from small businesses to junk stores to garage sale-like stalls. The food stalls have some variety as well. A bit of a Berlin institution.

Really cool place to hang out on the sunday afternoon, bunch of artists playing all kinds of music, various types of cousine and pf course, the flea market with all kinda of stuff.

A hugely popular market every Sunday at Mauer Park in Prenzlaurberg. The main attraction are the stalls selling second hand bikes, furniture, vinyl records, clothes where you can bargain the seller for a good deal, and all the arts and crafts stalls. But shopping and haggling makes people hungry so there is also a section of the market dedicated to food. You’ll find international food such as korean pancakes and deep fried plantain chips as well as no frills original street food such as hotdogs, ice creams and pomme frites.

My experience of Berlin was defined by the flea market at Mauerpark (happens only on Sundays). I wasn't really able to feel the openness and love of Berlin were it not for such a free environment-- there's group karaoke where hundreds sit to watch and support brave souls, endless street food, tons of small shops and second-hand wares, and friendly people galore. There was a ton of music, and it was not uncommon to find yourself in a dance party (as we found out twice). Enjoy the good vibes, take a nap in the sun, get a cold brew and currywurst while you're at it.

I would make this my top recommendation in determining my itinerary for Berlin.

Even if you don't like flea markets (I'm not the biggest fan), it's worth a visit to experience this Berlin institution, if only to soak up the atmosphere, grab a beer or some food (it was the only place I found veggie Currywurst), or people watch. If you're a fan of scouring flea markets or car boot sales for bargains, you're in luck - this has a lot to offer.

The place seems to be on every local’s list of places to take visitors. On Sunday at the corner of Mauerpark, this flea market is very popular - so set aside time to browse! Great for shopping if you’re after a quirky souvenir or just people watching, arrive early to avoid the crowds.

The Flea Market Mauerpark has yet to make it into many guidebooks offering a very local vibe, and some treasures that only a true traveler can find. The markets typical hours of operation are 8am to 6pm every Sunday. Go for the trinkets, and stay to enjoy the eclectic Sunday crowd at Mauerpark.

Super voller, cooler Flohmarkt jeden Sonntag.
