A lovely area with a wonderful book store! All the buildings really take you back to the Stalin era which makes it a great place for history buffs. Make sure not to miss it!

The socialist-era (1950s) boulevard built after WWII during the soviet sector days. Whilst in East Berlin it was called Stalinallee, and re-named after the fall of the wall. If you start at Alexanderplatz and walk down the south side, you'll see plaques explaining how the boulevard was designed and built. Though it looks relatively opulent, it was actually built for workers. Stalinallee also became a big shopping boulevard during the DDR days (though that doesn't really show now). Well worth a visit, if only to see some of the highlights: Cafe Moscow, Kino International, Strausberger Platz (with it's socialist era fountain), and the buildings at Frankfurter Tor. As you head further down KMA, turn around for some good photos of the Fernsehturm, which lines up well at the end of the boulevard. A small journey either side of the boulevard (south of Frankfurter Tor is a good bet) provides a choice of cafes and restaurants. If you're in the area, make sure to visit Simon-Dach-Straße to the south of KMA (where it becomes Frankfurter Allee).

Karl - Marx Allee in Berlin/ Germany is the most amazing Avenues in the Western Hemisphere. Not only are half of the buildings plastered with tiles, there is also at least ten glass houses that are from the Martin Gropius Aera inspired , and are
Milestones in Modern Architecture. The most amazing place, though, is the remains Kino International, which with its 50s wooden chairs and marble staircases, and golden curtain that still opens up in front of every show, brings back the glamour what true cinematography is. This, in essence, is the atmosphere of the entire avenue.
