Description
It is breathtaking to see a former monument of terror and death transformed into a place for children to play. From 1945 to 1989, Mauerpark, or "Wall Park," was part of a large no man's land around ... Read more
the Berlin Wall called a 'death strip.' Now, with the bare dirt and anti-tank ditches replaced with grass and basketball courts, it is one of the most popular parks in Berlin, attracting joggers, jugglers, musicians, and sightseers. 30 meters of the Berlin Wall still stand as a monument and a popular place for graffiti artists to ply their trade.

If you want to have a Berlin experience, Mauerpark is the perfect place. It is really cool to see lots of people singing karaoke during Sundays.

The Sunday market at Mauerpark is not to be missed! Imagine if your neighborhood yard sale and farmer's market got together and exploded in the most impressive way--then add some delicious German snacks to the mix. You can find literally anything here, from racks of vintage fur coats to handicrafts to old lithograph maps. It's great fun to stroll among the vendor stalls and get lost for a couple hours. In the winter, be sure to grab some Glühwein (spiced wine) to keep warm. The white wine version with ginger syrup is particularly good!

Ah, Mauerpark. Sundays are filled with budding musicians, strange street performers and lots and lots of people. If I have friends visiting on a Sunday I usually take them to see the many sides of Berlin in one place. Families, people dancing in horsehead masks, beatboxers and picnickers all in one spot. It's definitely an experience!

If you are in Berlin on a Sunday, don't miss this park where there is flea market, great food, mulled wines and budding musicians! A local favourite.

Mauerpark is certainly the place to get warm and cozy on a cold Sunday in Berlin. Rummaging around this flea market, I discovered plenty of candle lit bars and cafes that serve roasted chestnuts and mulled wine all Winter long. There is even a magical haunt that feels like a mountain ski lodge - Schönwetter - serving all sorts of glamorous treats for the Winter, as well as some nice beats to keep you going. What's nice about that place is its extremely local entourage of conversationalists.

The best time to check out Mauer Park in Prenzlauer Berg is on Sundays - Market day. There’s a thriving flea market on one side and on the other side is one big party. Musicians playing live music through portable loudspeakers, dancers and onlookers crowding around them. Stalls selling beer and cocktails in plastic cups. Basketball games and graffiti artists. The centre piece of the action is an area called the ‘bier pit’ Tiered seating looking down on a circular concrete platform for Karaoke. If you choose your song wisely you’ll get the whole messy crowd pumped up and singing along.

There's a massive flea market here most days and an absolutely unmissable Kareoke most sundays in the summer months. A guy turns up with massive speakers and a Kareoke playlist and you'll be expected to get up in front of the crowd and sing!

Great spot! I especially recommend the Sunday market - a lot of old, antic, second hand, handmade, artistic stuff. And good food. I love the atmosphere

A uniquely Berlin park, Mauerpark receives its name from being situated right where the Berlin wall (Berliner Mauer) used to run along. It's home to a sprawling Sunday flea market with handcrafted jewelry, quirky clothes, and all sorts of food. There are graffitied steps, and during the warmer months, countless people lounging on the grass, enjoying the view of Berlin's centre, including the TV Tower on Alexanderplatz.

The Wall (die Mauer) used to run along the land here; today it's a lovely open park. On Sundays it is home to the impressive Flohmarkt, which is worth a visit even if you don't like flea markets. Soak up the atmosphere, grab a beer or some food, or people watch. It was also the only place I found veggie Currywurst.

This monstrous park in Prenzlauer Berg is home to two of my favorite things on Sundays: a giant flea market and Bearpit Karaoke. The former offers tons of hippie-inspired fashions, retro finds, antiques, LPs, furniture, street food, and everything else you could want from an outdoor market. And the latter? It's the biggest outdoor karaoke bar you've ever seen, with hundreds of people lining the sloped lawns to watch the city's best karaoke singers battle each other for crowd approval.

Mauerpark is a great place to hang out and enjoy Berlin's local color. Go there on a Sunday and see the park turn into a gigantic flea market full of bikes, odd antiques, currywurst, and live performances. Be prepared for a big crowd!

An amazing Sunday market, with seemingly hundreds of stalls selling all types of assorted goods for pretty good prices! And then there's the big outdoor karaoke, which is definitely a spectacle. Definitely a cool and very "Berlin" thing to experience!

Mauerpark Berlin, also known as 'Wall Park', used to be surrounded by the Berlin Wall. Since the wall fell it has become a people's park where all walks of life come to enjoy the outdoors. When I was there on a Sunday afternoon it was bustling with live drummers and dancing creating an awesome sense of celebration.
