for Prussian kings, the Tiergarten was transformed into an romantic landscape garden in the early 18th Century by Peter Joseph Lenne, who designed a series of winding paths, lakes, bridges, sculptures and flower beds. The park was devastated in the Second World War and during subsequent winters. Replanted in the 1950s, the Tiergarten is now as beautiful as it ever was and very popular with locals and visitors alike.

I really like Berlin because of its number of parks in the center of the city. And this is one of the examples. :)

A huge city park encompassing the Zoo. Also quiet enough for a stroll and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Tiergarten is a public park in Berlin. I heard the name from Berlin's famous Love Parades that took place here, which are banned now a days.

After a horrible train journey to Berlin, I simply walked away from the main station and right into the Tiergarten. It's a wonderful, green, sprawling place with lakes, gardens with different flowers, and just lots of paths you can take, including some small ones for a slightly more adventurous feel. This was a perfect place to relax and recover.

Berlin's answer to Central Park is massive and the riverside location gives it a nice ambience. A great place to walk, run, and enjoy a bit of the outdoors just minutes from most parts of Berlin.

Originally created a s hunting ground for the King in 1527, this is the oldest, largest and one of the most beautiful parks in Berlin. Full of grassy meadows, tree lined avenues, impressive historical statues, a rose garden, enchanted forests, ponds, art installations, and war memorials. There’s also a Zoo in one corner. It’s so big you could spend all day wandering around this green zone in the centre of the city.

This is a beautiful park that is about 2 miles long and leads to plenty of historical sites and monuments. It's a very calming and peaceful area with joggers, bikers and walkers.

This is a huge space in the centre of Berlin. More than Central Park in New York, this feels like a forest away from the urban setting.

This is oldest public park in Berlin (formerly in West Berlin), the Tiergarten is a favored destination of both locals and visitors who enjoy open green spaces. Walking around the shady park is great on a sunny day in Berlin. We walked from Brandenburg Gate and enjoyed the busy street and the quiet park.

You're welcome to get naked here :)

Tiergarten is Berlin's biggest park and it's located right smack in the center of the city. But in true German fashion, it's also a very German-park. Which means you'll find plenty of nude sunbathers here. There are some areas of the park where entire families are in the nude, but in one corner near the park's central monument (the obelisk Victory Column), there's an area where many a gay man spends some time naked sunbathing. It's called FKK and it's nothing to be ashamed of!

The sprawling Tiergarten is a must-see for all visitors to Berlin. More than just a destination to take a serene stroll or bike ride, it's also an ideal spot for riding boats on a lake, having coffee or a beer at the scenic Cafe am Neuen See, or viewing the ornate buildings of the Diplomatic Quarter.

A pleasant park with some pleasant walks right in the centre of Berlin. There are supposedly good views from the top of the Winged Victory Column.

A massive and beautiful public park in the centre of Berlin; take some time to wander through the many paths but it's worth it. If it is summertime, have a picnic lunch in the sunshine. It's very easy, when you're deep in the centre of the park, to forget you're in the metropolis.

Note that Tiergarten is not just the name of the massive, sprawling park, but also an area of Berlin north of Schöneberg. After the war, while the city was divided and the cultural Museum Island was in East Berlin, the west built several cultural institutions on the site that remain today.

The Tiergarten is a beautiful, elegant park overflowing with rich, lush vegetation and canopy-like trees. Home to the Soviet War Memorial, you meander through peaceful greenery before snapping harshly back to reality as you stand in front of a formidable, towering stone statue that stands for a much more serious issue. The Tiergarten was devastated during World War II, but was lovingly replanted quickly thereafter.

An essential visit for any tourist, Tiergarten is Berlin's largest inner city park. You can visit Brandenburg Gate, walk down through the park to the Victory Column at Grosser Stern, through the English Gardens and get a soya latte at Café am Neuen See beside the lake Neuer See.

Very nice and big garden in the middle of city center! You can walk it starting from Brandenburg gate or from Parliament (Reichstad) heading to Potzdamer platz or to the zoo. Preferable at summer...

Great place to rest during your walking routes. If you plan to stop and rest some place, grab something to eat on your way and take your break under the trees.
