One of my favorite places to go is Copley square. There's a beautiful water fountain and gorgeous church. And always something happening in the summer with the fresh food market and outdoor concerts, great shopping around as well.

Great place in the center of the city to enjoy the outdoors. Check out the farmers markets and public concerts in the summer.

Wonderful architecture where old and modern structures compliment each other.

A remarkable number of important Boston educational and cultural institutions were originally located adjacent to (or very near) Copley Square, reflecting 19th-century Boston's aspirations for it as a center of culture and progress.[3] These include the Museum of Fine Arts, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard Medical School, the New England Museum of Natural History (today's Museum of Science), Trinity Church, the New Old South Church, the Boston Public Library, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Massachusetts Normal Art School (today's Massachusetts College of Art), the Horace Mann School for the Deaf, Boston University, Emerson College and Northeastern University.
Known as Art Square until 1883,[4] Copley Square was originally cut diagonally by Huntington Avenue; it took its present form in 1966 when Huntington Avenue was truncated at the corner of Dartmouth Street, the Square partially paved, and a pyramidal fountain sculpture added. In 1991, after further changes including a new fountain, the new Copley Square Park was dedicated. The nonprofit Friends of Copley Square raises funds for care of the square's plantings, fountain, and monuments.
The Boston Marathon has finished at Copley Square since 1986.[5] A memorial celebrating the race's 100th running (in 1996) is located in the park, near the corner of Boylston and Dartmouth streets.[6]

There's not much to do in the square itself, besides visiting the Trinity Church. It tends to host protests (I've seen at least two here this year) and other group gatherings as it is quite large. You can easily get to Newbury Street, Prudential or the Copley indoor shopping spots, or the main Boston Public Library without any issue.

There is a lot to see in this area, with shopping nearby and some decent places to eat.

In Copley Square you will be surrounded by incredible architecture, within walking distance of many parks and near one of the cities best shopping areas. A great starting point to much of what the city has to offer.

Beautiful day in a beautiful city.

Hmmm. I chose Massachusetts but it's saying VIRGINIA!!! I'll have to see how to edit that out.

Copley square is an interesting collection of businesses, people, random acts of kindness and sometimes rudeness, as well as farmers markets, events, city sponsored statues and displays etc.

It is bordered by a few major Boston attractions and very close vicinity to Copley Place Mall. During dreary, rainy days, there isn't too much to see here as there is no shelter at Copley square for those caught in the downpour. But once the weather lightens up, people actually, even on bad weather, sit here and kind of just people watch.

I have never been the subject of people watching so it was interesting to see all the eyes following everyone around on the streets.

I think this is a nice place when it's sunny and serves as a good city center to events, but it's just kind of drab during rainy days.
