If you’re a fan of the beer it’s a fun place to visit, but not a great spot if you’re looking for a quiet drink. Bar area has bench seating and can get very busy and crowded.

Harpoonfest was great. They had two separate stages for bands, and a good variety of food trucks. Their pretzels with cheese are worth it.

Worth the walk out to get a tasting of beer. They have limited batches that you can try as well which definitely worth doing. The pretzels are almost like a big bagel. Check out the gift shop as well.

Harpoon is one of my favorite spots to go! Their tour is informative and you get to sample a lot of beers but after that their Beerhall is great. They have Delicious Pretzels, made with Harpoon IPA, and a big selection of Harpoon beer at the bar! Try the Pilot Series! You won't get it anywhere else. Great social spot for tourists and Locals!

Harpoon is Boston's 2nd biggest brewery and also a must visit for beer lovers. The tour is $5 and you get a generous tasting at the end - the tours are very popular on the weekends though so you have to get there early to get a spot. On the weekends they do tours every 20-30 minutes, though, so you won't have to wait longer than that. Otherwise, just hang out in the tap room and drink! They have about 2 dozen beers on tap including some of their pilot beers that they are testing out - things you can't get anywhere else!

this place is super cool! the common area is a great place to get a group together for drinks. try their boston irish stout, rye IPA, and their parmesan pretzel. AMAZE. also, the cool thing about the brewery is you can take the bus (I believe it was the silver line, but forget) directly to and from the front of the brewery! HAVE FUN!

Sure, you can go to any brewery to see how beer is made. If you want to see how really good beer is made, go to Harpoon Brewery. They will have you wear safety goggles but you'll forget them very soon after being led on the tour. I found it to be fun entertaining and educational. The tour guides are very knowledgeable have a great sense of humor and love what they're doing- they're working in a beer factory after all.
During the tour you'll be led into their tasting room. This is a happy place where you can get what seems like almost unlimited samples of most of their beers on tap. My personal favorites were the Leviathan IPA (quite a special brew indeed) and their Boston Irish Stout. They will also tell you how their spent grain is used in making their freshly baked pretzels in the larger tap room. You will be now told by me that this is unlike any pretzel you have ever had before. You will want to remember this a few minutes later when you actually go into the tap room after the tour.

You will want to order this big puffy pretzel with two dipping sauces of your choosing of the quite a few that they offer. (Melted Garlic herb Parmesan butter and beer cheese were my two choices.) You will want to wash down the pretzel with one of their many tasty brews or go for a tasting flight.

You will then thank me.

Harpoon Brewery offers tours and tastings for $5 per person. The tour is pretty standard; guests get to wander the premises, see all the holding tanks and learn a bit more about the process. You're provided with a small glass tumbler at the start of the tour, and then there are opportunities to fill it up with different kinds of beer, at different stages in the brewing process, along the way. I liked how the tours were small enough that you could get your fair share, and the guides were very fun and charismatic.

At the end of the tour, you're left in the tap room for a 20-minute tasting. At this point you can head to the bar and fill up your tumbler with whatever you'd like, however many times you'd like. I personally wasn't super aggressive about it, but you could take down a good amount of beer in that time if you really go for it. Not a bad deal!

Oh, and the beer is delicious. There's something for everyone!

I was unable to actually tour the brewery. (if you want to see the brewery, make sure you reserve your ticket ahead of time - they quickly sell out!) However, the taproom was awesome. They serve flights of beer for $9 a piece (quite a bargain for what you get), as well as pints of individual beers. Also, make sure to try one of their pretzels with dipping sauce...my personal favorite was the mustard ale. The perfect combination with a flight of beer. Cheers!

As much as I respect other people's opinions, I have to deeply, deeply disagree with April C. on her review for Harpoon.

I never heard of Harpoon, most likely because it doesn't come to the west coast and everyone in the world has heard of Samuel Adams so already having been to the famous brewery I had low expectations for Harpoon.

Additionally, on weekends they ONLY do tours, so you can't even taste and I felt like it would be a waste of my time since it was 2:30 pm and their next tour was at 4. I was convinced to buy a $5 ticket so I ended up at Yankee Lobster while waiting for the tour to start. The area is actually a nice walk and next year Liberty Pier will come into business so I imagine there would be quite a bit more interesting browses around.

Only the Silver line of MBTA serves this area, and they are slow, and if you take it in the wrong direction, be prepared to call a non-existent taxi.

Coming back to Harpoon, I liked that their upstairs tasting room was ... warm, nice, well stocked. I liked that their tours don't have five million people like Samuel Adams. I liked that they serve you beer ALL OVER THE TOUR.

At Samuel Adams, you get beer at the end. You get to taste about 3, sometimes 4 if you're lucky. The crowd is huge and its hard to hear if you're in the back of the tour group since their tours have like 100 people.

Here at Harpoon, its quite a more intimate story. They don't waste your time, they tell you what you want to know, they let you see all the magic and even let you taste a beer that hasn't been completely finished giving me the FRESHEST IPA experience I've ever had or ever will have.

Their beers are .... nothing short of amazing. I mean, I enjoy Samuel Adams and I can get it at Safeway any day ... but Harpoon. Wow. Their Imperial IPA just blows all IPA's away. It really is the big daddy of IPA's. Their white ale completely annihilates Blue Moon. You'll be sitting there wondering why you ever drink that Blue Moon crap if you had access to the white ale.

They have a significant selection of their beers on tap and they have GROWLERS! Despite having to travel back to across the country ... we bought a growler (64 oz) full of their Imperial IPA. It was a memorable night. What an amazing brewery, I only wish they would come to the west coast some day!

Happened to be here on Columbus Day, when all tastings were free! No tours were happening while we were there, but it was a fun time and the staff was friendly & happy to answer questions.

A local Boston brewery, conveniently located in Boston proper. I went to Oktoberfest here - great event, good food - awesome oompah band. They do tours during Oktoberfest too - so you can definitely keep yourself busy!
