moved from the location of its humble beginnings in 1909, and now it is a grand structure that sits right across the street from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts. The newest wing houses the Art of the Americas. This is an art lover's museum with both steady and changing exhibits. No matter if you prefer the medium of paint, textiles, drawings, embroidery, gems, photography, jewelry or musical instruments, there is something to enjoy.

Today the MFA is one of the most comprehensive art museums in the world; the collection encompasses nearly 450,000 works of art. The MFA welcomes more than one million visitors each year to experience art from ancient Egyptian to contemporary, special exhibitions, and innovative educational programs.

Because I'm a student at Northeastern University, I'm able to go to the MFA for free. The floor layout, at least for me, is a little bit confusing, but I could definitely spend a whole day in general walking around the building. They have a great collection and are always bringing in new pieces and opening cool exhibits. They also sell really great quality postcards in the gift shops. Highly highly recommend visiting if you love art or want something chill to do.

This is an amazing museum with an awesome selection of art from all over the world. Their pieces from, give or take, 1650-1800 are particularly fantastic.

One of the best museums I've ever been to. I only had 3 hrs to finish my visit, and I couldn't. You can easily spend a day here and just feel lost in the world of art. Amazing paintings. There're cafes inside in case you feel hungry.

This is a great art museum and its very large! There's ancient art, art from Europe, contemporary art, and American art featuring many famous works. On Wednesday night, the museum is pay-what-you-wish admission and it's also open until 9:45 pm.

The Museum of Fine Arts is perfect for college students looking for something to do. Some Boston schools have partnerships with the museum which allows students entrance for free but on Wednesdays after 6 pm, anyone can get inside free of charge. There's plenty to learn about art in the museum and it's usually filled with fascinating pieces.

I've been going to the MFA since I was a kid and if always steals my breath away, the rotating special galleries are always worth looking into.

I went to the Museum of Fine Arts with my mother and grandmother back in August. It was splendid. All the history from different cultures and time periods were extremely fascinating. I would recommend to anyone to go.

If your into art and History this is an AMAZING spot to go! If not you can still check out the mummy's in the Egypt exhibit! They have great traveling exhibits and recently put on a large expansion! Tip: check out ahead of time but I think either Wednesday or Friday is free entry!

The MFA is not another stuffy museum, and ranks high on a list of Boston prides. Even for frequent visitors it is easy to get lost in its maze of galleries - which range from contemporary explorations of glass to temporary exhibits that question the nature of ordinary objects and human expression. You can get lost in the skies of the Impressionists and whisper amongst ancient sarcophagi, which rumor has it, yes, do have actual mummies inside. No Louvre, it would still take a hundred free Wednesday visits to see all the Museum has to offer, in both its permanent and temporary exhibits. Home to a museum school across the street, for those particularly intrigued by the craft, the mfa even has an exhibit dedicated to live preservation where you can see curators at work.
