Description
Walking through Back Bay on a sunny day, it’s hard to imagine that the grand Trinity Church was constructed as far back as 1877. Located just a few steps from local shops and restaurants, the building ... Read more
exhibits the Richardsonian Romanesque style, complete with its stone façade, arches and imposing tower. Originally located on Summer Street, its first incarnation was destroyed in the Great Boston Fire of 1872. It was rebuilt on Clarendon Street under the management of Rector Phillips Brooks, a renowned preacher in his time.

A Romanesque style church in middle of Boston. Former church burned in the Great Boston Fire of 1872, the current church complex was erected and opened in 1877.

Exquisite building by H. H. Richardson, Trinity is a landmark in American Architecture. The tour is great, especially when they show you the underpinnings of the building, and the troubles caused by the building of the Hancock Tower across the street.

The beautiful and historic Trinity ⛪ Church of Boston Massachusetts. View from across the street in front of the Boston Public Library.

Okay you are in Copley Square, what is there to do? You can check out Hancock Tower and/or the neo-classical Boston Public Library http://www.gogobot.com/the-boston-public-library-boston-attraction

This church charges you $ 7 for either the guided or a self-guided tour. Hmmm if I have to pay, I would get the guided tour then.

Pro -tip A free tour is offered every Sunday directly following the 10:00 am summer worship service, and meets in front of the Eagle Lectern immediately after the service has concluded

Why would you pay? I guess you can check out the La Farge murals and stained glass.

I sneaked into the hallway to take a peak at some of the stained glass and left with $7 bucks in my pocket.

Maybe next time, I might pay if someone in my group was really interested in checking it out and we missed the free tour.
Otherwise, I will pass and spend more time in the library or walk along the Charles (all free activities).

The church to see in Boston. Located right in the middle of everything. Often has choirs going.

Gorgeous historic church juxtaposed against a more modern section of town. However, not worth paying to go in.

This place is gorgeous! It's not the first church ever built but it looks like it. It is beautifully built.

A self tour is $7... Really?! Not even A guided tour? If it were a guided one, I'd pay to learn the history but nope... Nothing. Not even audio.

I'm not cheap. I pay a lot for museums and sights/sounds but for a house of worship? I never expect to pay unless donated (during mass).

I've been to every church in Boston to look at and they all have been free.

Note: go across the street to the Protestant church, it's beautiful and free!

Overall: it's beautiful but for $7, ehhh not unless I'm being told what's it about.

the most beautiful church i have ever been to. i went twice the first time it was free. the second time i was very disappointed that it cost to go inside and see it. it should be free. God doesn't charge anyone to go see Him. Very disappointed :(

Anyone who appreciates great architecture will love this building. Trinity Church is considered by the American Institute of Architects to be one of the ten finest examples of architecture in the United States, and it is the only church on that list. Trinity was designed by Henry Hobson Richardson and built in 1877. The church offers guided tours.

It looks quite weird right near Newbury and in the middle of so many more modern buildings but it is quite beautiful.
