A "must see" when in Bremen. The gigantic statue is amazing, next to the cityhall

Meeting at the back of Roland, the liberty statue of Bremen you turn around to face the town hall. The part you see is the historic one with a Renaissance façade. You face the emperor an his seven electors: three spiritual ones to the left (the archbishops of Cologne, Mayence and Treves) and four to the right (the king of Bohemia, the duke of Saxony, the marchegrave of Brandenburg, the sovereign of Palatinate). Below a balcony encircling the famous golden room by Heinrich Vogeler, painter in Worpswede. Below the second arch the legendary hen, symbol of the discovery of Bremen. You've got to enter the town tall, see the ships and pictures that give you an idea on the importance of this place as one of the centers of trade in the late medeaval area. When leaving, don't miss the tiny statue of the town musicians at the back entry to the council's famous wine cellar
