The only floating bridge east of the Mississippi spans the narrows of Sunset Lake in Brookfield. Built and rebuilt 8 times since 1820, the bridge was re-opened in 2015 with great pomp and circumstance. Buoyed by pontoons, it has long been a coveted viewing point for one of New England’s last remaining ice harvest festivals. Swimming or fishing from the bridge is common during the summer months.
