From the outside, 1750 looks so much bigger than the 1087 and it is a lot easier to find than the 1087 while walking through Beacon Street. What I can say about the rooms though is that it's cozy and has a rustic vibe to it. There really isn't much of a difference between the two hotels. The building used to be an old house and it shows. You also get a lot of sunlight in the rooms just because of how it's all laid out. It's quite cool to see how they try to make it modern without destroying its historical roots. As far as the location goes, it's close to places like the Barcelona Wine Bar so there are places to go to but you won't have loud music ruining your sleep.

A charming inn in an old house built in the 1890s that makes you feel like staying in a home (because you are, really). It's located near Washington Square in Brookline. Each room has its own character and named after a historical figure or something else related to Boston history. The same family has been running this and Beacon Inn 1087 for over 30 years. The rooms are pretty big and you can also get rooms with 2 queen or king beds for when you're traveling with family or more people. Some of the bathrooms have one of those charming old fashioned bath tubs! It may be an old building but there's free wifi and flat screen TVs. Coffee and tea are served in the "lobby".

The Beacon Inn was built in 1890, has been owned by the same family for the past 30 years and became a hotel in 1990. At four floors, it was an old aristocratic family's house back in the day and retains the regality. It it is comfortable and (in terms of style but not amenities) a little old-fashioned. Each room is named after some local historical figure (Paul Revere, Sam Adams) or place (the Common) and has a private bathroom - some with a bathtub. Some rooms, like the Sam Adams, have two beds, others just one. Each room has a flat screen with HBO. There's coffee and tea in the tiny, snug lobby and the staff are truly enthusiastic about the property.
