Don't make a mistake because of the name, Fatál means wooden platter in Hungarian :) The place located in Váci utca in historical downtown Budapest, is known for its stylish home-style hungarian cooking. Renown for such memorable dishes as the bread buns filled with Vetrece (Sour Ragout), the bean soup with cabbage and pork, the pasta (resembling Ricciolini) with cabbage and crisp duck filet as well as the giant cottaga cheese dumplings – to name a few. The atmosphere of the large oak benches and tabels along with the refreshing draft beer recall th ebest Hungarian restaurant traditions. The large portions are served in roman clay dishes or iron skillets, as we say: „just like my mother used to do!”.

We have regularly Fatal restaurant for several years. There was always all good, so often recommended friends, when they were in Budapest. Now (02. Jan) we were a larger group, but unfortunately I'm very disappointed. We've had a small box snd one chair had to wait for a long time, that does speak to us. The drink, which brought out, it was warm. When ordering, that waiter rudely forced upon us as food and drinks, which we do not want. I protested, but it was an unacceptable answer, if you do not like it go somewhere else! Since we were new friends, we did not want to complain, but unfortunately the food was not like other times and had to wait a lot for everything! Not to mention the rude handling services! The paying is pretty much waited to change money! I believe the last time we were here and not recommend it to others.

Hungarian businessmen consultant arrived at the restaurant. It was my first visit, but then we're going to go here and recommend it to everyone. A great waiter greeted us with a mustache, a sort of big bear :-)! The sheet showed what we eat, Hungarian food and drinks offered. Then we tasted the restaurant's dessert too. I've been to many places, but it was the best food, excellent service and cozy environment. It was all great , thanks!

Several of our friends were already in the restaurant, so we went too. After we sat down, we got the menu, but soon came the waiter. A good steak selections, but the waiter peremptory voice he thinks recommended a delicious meal. We accepted, but really repented. After a long wait we got some finely sliced cooked meat, which was inedible! The drink also had problems choosing. We wanted to drink wine, but just could not ask for a whole bottle, we had a lot of this volume. Not to mention the fact that the waiter has raped us, moreover, spirits, definitely not what we wanted! Icing on the cake: paying credit cards are not accepted! Nonsense!

My friend , business partners often go to the restaurant. Also twice in the past week we were there. The food was delicious now, but I missed the Ferenc waiters can bring the extra comfort and kindness. The younger waiter was unfriendly and rude and made comments, because I did not chose what he wanted to put us violently. If you could have offered as Ferenc might accept from him, but his behavior has nothing away. Unfortunately, this greatly marred the atmosphere of the evening.

Excellent hungarian fare at an affordable price - this is the go-to restaurant for local expats.

This is the place to be for those who like to endulge and have a huge appetite. If you just eat normal portions, order an appetizer or share a main dish between two people. It feels bad throwing all that away, which you can't eat. The food is good and there is a nice atmosphere in this little gem of a restaurant.

The restaurant is on Váci Street, the main pedestrian shopping/dining thoroughfare in the heart of the city. A tourist trap, quite frankly, I was just too tired and hungry to be looking somewhere else. The goulash (not necessarily a soup or stew in Hungary) was acceptable.
