morning to evening every day. Though the carriages are modern, you are sure to enjoy their pleasantly antique design and aesthetic, as well as their spotless maintenance. Worth a long look is the system's wheel, a massive feat of engineering that operates the track from the top of the hill. The system is closed for maintenance on Monday of the second and fourth weeks of the month.

To go up to Buda is great taking the funicular. One way, to go down os easy by walk

How cute is this funicular! From the base, it takes you up to the Castle Hill where the National Gallery is. The only downside is that the best view came from the very front cabin. Otherwise, its a fun ride up. I ended up walking down to save some money.

Expensive ride for just the funicular but still a very good view and better than walking up the hill to Buda Castle

Take the funicular to go up to the castle hill. The second funicular of Europe, opened in March 1870.

Quickest way to get up Castle Hill. Was not running when I was there, but wish it had been! It is a long hike otherwise, especially in summer when it can get quite hot.

There are a couple of ways to get up the hill, and the funicular is definitely the way to go rather than up all those stairs! It is always fun to try different modes of transportation, so give it a try!

I love modes of transport and this one is awesome. Funiculars give you the chance to see the world a little differently, and this one gives you a great view of the bridge and the other side of the river. Loved it.

The quick way to get up to the Castle and the Fisherman's Bastion. Good views of the Parliament Building and Chain Bridge on the way up.

The Budapest Funicular runs from the Duna Corso near the Chain Bridge up to Buda Castle. It is different from the Istanbul funiculars in that it's above ground and you can see out the front window the whole way up. It's a cheap and fun way to get up a really steep hill.

The Funicular takes visitors up to Buda Castle and the Castle Hill area. We opted to walk, as we went up near Matthias Church and walked across to Castle Hill. It was still a cool thing to see, especially from the top down.

Located at the Buda end of Széchenyi Chain Bridge, this is by far the easiest way to get up the hill to the attractions.

The Funicular is a fast way to visit Buda Castle. If you don't want to walk up or down the hill it's a quick and fun way to go.

Nice ride up a steep climb but be aware that in off season we were hustled and hassled by a man waiting when we exited the lift to purchase his personalized tour service.

One of those must-dos you really look forward to...and last but a few seconds. Still, the quickest way to Buda Castle and Fisherman's Bastion and a Budapest must-do.

Fun little ride up the Buda Hill. Easy to find, but if you need help, the local name for this is "Budavari Siklo".
