We only visited Heroes Square briefly. I'd love to revisit it with a guide so I could understand what I was seeing and the history behind it.

Probably the most impressive square in the city located in the Andrássy Avenue. History, art and politics are the main elements of this square. The statues are quite impressive. If you want the place empty go before 7:30am or after 10pm.

All of the great old cities have a large square for people to congregate, and Budapest's does not disappoint. Definitely worth a walk through on your way to the baths or to one of the museums.

At the top of Andrassy Ut, with museums on both sides, close to the zoo and City Park, Heroes Square is a wide space and worth visiting as part of Budapest's history.

Heroes square has some magnificent statues in the centre and is surrounded on all sides by some impressive buildings. I would recommend to visit this square on morning or evening to avoid high traffic.

The monumental Heroes' Square situated at the end of the Andrássy Ave. which is protected from the Unesco World Heritage. From the Downtown You can arrive here with the first underground of the European continent under the Andrássy Ave. In 1896 the country celebrated his 1000 years long history, the city organized one of the first European Expo, the Millinenium of the Foundation of Hungary. The first underground, the Heroes' Square and the City park behing the square were designed very fresh even for this event. On the square You find one side the Museum of Fine Arts on the other side the Art's Hall. Behind the square You can walk in into the City Park fully of attractions (Vajdahunyadvár castles, Zoo&Luna Park, one of the most popular spa, the Széchényi Bath) or You can just enjoy the fresh air of the park how also locals do.

Pretty much the 'centre' of the Pest side of Budapest. Great monument to the Magyar nobility who ruled Hungary for nearly a thousand years. If you have time, check out the Museum of Fine Arts.

Located right next to the building. You'll find the US embassy there. Beautiful buildings with great architecture. And a great cafe to have lunch or drinks, right in the middle of the square.

The square and the adjoining city park were created at the end of the nineteenth century to commemorate the thousandth anniversary of the Magyar conquest of Hungary in the 9th century. The many statues are of historical figures. The Fine Arts Museum and Palace of Arts face the square.

Hero Square is one of the more prominent landmarks in Pest. The monument in the center depicts the original Magyar chieftains who conquered the Danubian plain and founded Hungary. The statues along the surrounding arcade are images of Hungaria kings and other notable historic figures. In front of the monument is Andrassy Avenue while behind the square is one of Budapest's main parks.

During the communist era May Day parades were held in Hero Square.
