Good Buffalo wings, however there are better places now that are not as well known

You haven't had Buffalo wings until you've eaten them at Anchor Bar, a local eatery that claims to have invented them. It's got a dive bar sort of vibe, but it's a fun place to visit, especially with friends so you can order heaps upon heaps of wings!

Home of the original Buffalo Wings, Anchor Bar is a fun spot to visit. They have stuff all over the walls and decent wings! I had the medium because they were the original but I though it could have been spicier! The guy next to me had the "Suicidal" and said they were good and REALLY HOT!!!

I had heard mediocre ratings. I found the wings to be good no fat and excellent taste. I would recommend to anyone.

OK, if you are in the area then this might be a good place to stop and have their famous, original chicken wings - they claim this is where they started. It can be noisy and crowded but the wings are good.

Anchor Bar is the legendary home of the original Buffalo Wing. If you're in town, you have to stop by and try the original. Definitely tasty!

Seems strange to review a wing joint, but the Anchor Bar is not your average neighborhood wing spot.
You all know the deal...buffalo wings created here, best wings in the world, a must visit, and on and on....
Well, let me tell you most of the above is true and if you're in Buffalo on one of
Our Canadian shopping trips down there, a stop at the Anchor Bar is well worth it, and highly recommended.
Ok, the experience itself! Be prepared to wait a bit, it's awfully busy here. Once in though, the atmosphere of the place with its eclectic collection of memorabilia, license plates, and samples of the famous who have been here is very cool, and makes for a fun experience. Soak it up!
Service is quick and friendly and the four of us order wings, 10 in an order, with four different sauces, almost running the gamut of the what they serve.
The wings are amazing! Perfectly fried, golden, with just the right amount of crispness. They are on the larger side, so an order of 10 is pretty filling. The various sauces all have their own taste, but my suicide sauced feather flyers are out of this world! Be prepared to sweat! This is one sauce the creeps on you till you reach the "ok, I'm done, get me a towel" point of wing machine happiness.
We order fries as well to share...I'd not do that the next time. They are bland and flavorless, plus you don't need them, the wings are good enough.
For the four of us with a few beers, it's around $80. Not the cheapest, but hey it's an institution and admittedly a bit of a tourist trap, but one you have to visit.

When I was completing my Master's Degree at SUNY Buffalo, I found out about the Anchor Bar and chicken wings....THE ORIGINAL CHICKEN WINGS..created at the Anchor Bar. Wings were 15 cents each! Ate until stuffed, then ate some more!

Slightly dry, mediocre wings at high prices. Bizarre incident in which an employee got right in my 2 year old son's face and scared him for laughing too loud. We were getting ready to leave and thought it was a joke given how loud the dining area is. We were told to 'control' our son. I explained that we'd been stuck in customs with him and our 8 month old for an hour and a half and had driven in from Toronto just to eat there, it was getting late and my son was tired hence the laughing too loud. Our meal was over anyway. But this bizarre employee rudely told us he 'didn't care' and neither did the other patrons. Stunning and just humiliating and weird. We'll never go back and if you have little kids you might want to reconsider it, this place is definitely not 'family friendly'.

I remember this place, back in the day, as much smaller. Great atmosphere, great wings, great drinks. This is where the wing began. I would go back and bring more friends next time.

The Anchor Bar is known as the birthplace of the chicken wing, but that doesn't mean that you'll find the best wings here. They are good enough, but I went more to say I'd been there than the quality of the wings. The place itself is a bit of a dive, but I like that.

Some people really love their wings and will even order them through the mail for parties.

Buffalo, CA; A piece of history here where the original Buffalo wings were created. Great atmosphere with obviously great wings. Try the suicidal wings and let me know how they were if you've lived thru it. RG 3/2011

Yup, it's about what you would expect. A local bar with a restaurant in the back that happens to have invented the Buffalo Wing. Honestly, the wings here are good, but not great. Still, if you go to Buffalo, you don't really have much choice but to go here at least once. They frequently have music in the restaurant area, or you can just pull up a stool and enjoy a beer with your wings while chatting to some local folk.
