Cancun Vacations

As one of the first planned tourist cities in the world, Cancun is wholly dedicated to the pleasures of a sun and sand vacation. On the Caribbean coast of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, Cancun boasts fine white sand beaches and warm turquoise water. The Hotel Zone is just what it sounds -- hotels, dining and shopping, geared towards international ... Read more
tourists, cruise ship passengers and all-inclusive vacation resorts. To add a bit of adventure to your vacation, venture out from the city to go on a Jeep safari, visit Mayan ruins, swim with dolphins at an adventure park or explore offshore on a boat trip. While chain restaurants abound, Cancun's dining options have expanded into the gourmet side featuring Yucatecan cuisine like poc chuc (shredded pork marinated in sour orange juice) or succulent lobster. For night owls, Cancun has a vibrant nightlife, with a multitude of bars and clubs for all ages. These are especially packed during Cancun's busiest week with the under-25 set: spring break, which can run anywhere from mid-March to mid-April.

Spring Break season from mid-February through mid-April is probably something you’ll want to either plan for or avoid, depending on your age and propensity to appreciate drunken ruckus. December and late April are good times to go to avoid big crowds and stormy weather.

Cancun is pretty amazing with great cheap food and good malls. We like Puerto Morelos, about 20 miles south where everything is much cheaper and the people are great. From anywhere on the Yucatan you can travel to Mayan Ruins (Archeological Sites) within a few minutes to a few hours, Chichen Itzá is only about two hours away, and Campeche about four with many ruins between.

It was so much fun! It was my first time out the country! We toured Chichén Itzá further inland and took a catamaran to Isla Mujeres!

I went twice within a couple months. There is so much to do that you can experience something different each time. I like visiting for affordability especially if you’re willing to book outside of the resorts. Airbnb and take the bus everywhere for $1 and you’ll have plenty money to spare on a activity’s. The Mayan Ruins, Excaret, The Ferry to Isla, just so much. If you can snap a cheap flight you can surely spend under $500pp and have a great time.

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

If I'm honest I prefer Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Cancun is a bit too 'Vegas' for me, plus it is super expensive. But if you are looking to party and don't mind splashing the cash you can have an amazing time here.

The city if filled with beautiful beaches and great food with so many activities for the whole family to do. The big downside here is the draw it "party" goers. So beware to be around rowdy people day and night.
