Description
The calanques, or inlets, of Cassis are excellent vantage points for looking out over the Mediterranean. Hike along the cliffs for some unforgettable views.

A stunning work of nature that must be seen by both water and land. There are many nice beaches and tours from Cassis.

Have you ever seen a place on Pinterest and pinned it, hoping somehow you might one day go? That's how I ended up in Cassis, hopping on a boat to see 3 of the famous Calanques.
And they are more beautiful than even the most beautiful photos. Green-blue waters. Rocky cliffs that have been bleached by the sun to a light stone gray. People frolicking in every sense of the word.
If you want to access a beach, you will need to go by foot in many cases - some are a longer walk/hike than others. If not, any one of a number of small tour boats leave hourly from Cassis (a cute town unto itself).

One of those places that make you glad to be alive and traveling, the Calanques are bright blue inlets framed by tall, white cliffs. There are a couple restaurants on one side with great ocean views, or an hour's hike named for Le Petit Prince on the other side.

You want spectacular pictures of sharp Provençal cliffs, and azure seas, then you need to check out the Calanques near Cassis.

Cassis (located on the Mediterranean) is a 1-hr drive from the apartment and well worth the time. Stunning harbour and beautiful surroundings.

Beautiful inlets with white limestone cliffs and turquoise water. You can hike into some beautiful beaches, or take a boat ride from Cassis to see the calanques - although check the weather as the boats don't sail if it is too windy. This is amazing, romantic and can be really fun with kids (if you kids are good walkers).
