The room was beautiful and the bed was super comfortable. Got great service in the breakfast buffet downstairs and enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day festivities.

This hotel has nice rooms and a giant four level lobby. The gym is really nice. Used to be a lot less, I wouldn't go for over $200.

Very comfortable beds and clean, excellent staff from check-in to the bell station. They even have a location to print boarding passes in the lobby.

I love this place. Not only is it a really nice hotel, but the bar with the big drinks is lots of fun too!

Conveniently by the Riverwalk and across the Magnificent Mile, it's a pretty good location. The gym is pretty well equipped too; not that you'd use it excessively with all the walking around downtown, but it's much bigger than other hotel gyms I've seen; there are lemongrass-scented moist towels and a selection of headsets. Kettleballs, yoga mats, resistance bands, balance balls, a view of the riverwalk...ok I'll stop. The rooms aren't bad; they could do with some some modernizing (to match the more modern lobby), but they're comfortable. Cool, little-known fact: There's an underground pedway that connects you to neighboring buildings and local businesses. This is more conference hotel than family spot, but I've seen little kids behave well at the Regency Club on the 35th floor. (See photo of night skyline from front of hotel.)

Some of the best views of the city are in this hotel. Navigation through this hotel is kind of a pain but it's a gorgeous place to stay.

Overall, this is a very nice hotel. There are a few issues I have with it. First, there's NOT free wifi. In this day and age, and with so many budget hotels offering this, I'd expect a more upscale place to follow suit. The next is the TV, which is a crappy standard definition picture stretched to a newer HD TV. What's the point? Lastly, while very convenient, the self-checkout machines are slow (almost unresponsive at times) and not as smooth of an experience as it should be. The location is pretty solid. It's fairly close to a lot of areas of the city worth exploring, and it is a very doable walk to Millennium Station. Luckily, the hotel staff was friendly and helpful and made up for some of the shortcomings. I might stay there again if I found a deal, but it's not my first choice for a hotel in Chicago.

I was here for a work event. The room is so spacious, has floor to ceiling windows, and was beautifully decorated. The hotel itself is huge with two towers (east & west). It also has many conference rooms with multiple levels. You could easily get lost.

You can't beat the location of this hotel, right along the river with great views and a block from Michigan Ave. It has been recently remodeled, with multiple places to eat and drink inside. Rooms are clean, comfortable and have all of the standard amenities.

Decent, but outdated ...

When we first arrived I noticed that the shower smelled a bit mildewy. Other than that the room sizes were average.

I did however love the location since it's near a bunch of the touristy attractions.

TIP: buy water and necessities at a 7eleven since the prices at the convenient shop are $$$$!

Great if you're staying in the near tower. But if you're a priceline customer, they are probably going to stick you in the far building, which is a long walk.

It's got a big bar, great views and stellar service. Can be difficult to find if you are driving, and the parking is a expensive

This place has been RENOVATED! (as of 8/24/2011) so many of the previous reviews may not apply if you see folks complaining about old, outdated decor and musty corridors.

First, the Hyatt Regency in Chicago is the largest Hyatt Regency in the US. They have over 2044+ rooms and two large towers. Compared to Vegas, that may seem like nothing (Vdara houses an impressive 4408 rooms!) but here in Chicago, this landmark hotel definitely has presence.

I got a deal on priceline and for once trusted my fate at a chain versus the boutique hotels I've been staying at in previous visits and I have to say, for the price I paid, it was well worth it.

The front desk was pleasant, check in was easy and the room was clean. It smelled, felt, and looked clean and updated. The bed was large, comfortable, and the shower was well designed so you can let it rain or turn it on power mode to wash out that stubborn conditioner in your hair.

The room service was ... OK since the hotel was big and it just takes forever to get anything but aside from that it was a very pleasant experience. This place is almost always crawling with kids, adults, conventions, tourists so just know what you're getting into.

Great central location for exploring Chicago, staff was super helpful and attentive for such a large property.

Convenient location. Walking distance to almost everything you have to see in Chicago!

My second trip to Chicago, we stayed in downtown, which was WAY more convenient.

- Super close to touristy attractions either directions: Magnificent mile, Cloud gate, Navy Pier, etc.
- Close to public transport ie 5 blocks or so to Red line
- Attractive lobby
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Secure rooms that require a key to enter elevators after 11PM or so.

- A somewhat dreary room with the color scheme, which looks contemporary in the pictures, but not so in person.
- The glass window in our room was dirty with streak marks and such as if they haven't cleaned it in a while...

I suppose this was an excellent deal for the location and all, but I expected a little bit more from a 4 star hotel. Maybe it was listed as 3.5stars. Either way, our request of a king bed was confirmed when we checked in, but when we got to the room, it was a double. No biggie I guess. It was nice though that they allowed us to extend our check out time to 1PM instead of 12PM when I called the morning of check-out.

I'm torn between the 4 star review and the 3. It's actually a 3.5 star where I more than like it, but didn't really like it :)

Helsinki, Finland

The location is excellent. Water taxi nearby, magnificent mile just a few steps away. Keefer's restaurant just a few minutes away. Nothing to complain about the hotel - just a normal business hotel. Wifi availability was not good around the hotel conference areas. The conference areas were a maze with some places quite far apart.

A treat for business travelers, elegant, functional, and super comfortable. However, it is massive and somewhat commercial. Service was dynamic and efficient. The area is good, just a few mins walk to 'Magnificent Mile' and 'Millennium Park. Do explore: visit the 'Art Institute of Chicago’; it has a great Impressionism and post-impressionism collection.
