Only good thing about this hotel is the location to the Magnificent Mile and its price point. It is not the cleanest and the front desk is not the nicest.

Great location just off of Michigan Ave. Rooms are spacious, but have not been updated in a while. The location is the best. Staff is very friendly. Lounge is fun and inviting.

From the outside, the Inn of Chicago looks like a building transported straight from the streets of Paris. Intricate detailing, featuring lion heads and marble paneling, makes it one of my favorite buildings in the whole city.

From the inside, it looks more like a swanky living space with long, tall benches inflected with gold coloring and a large fireplace to warm the lobby area. Beaded light fixtures hang from the windows, causing the sun to bounce off in beautiful rainbows throughout the space.

The InnBar is situated in the back of the lobby with a glowing blue backdrop and multiple televisions to catch the latest game or the evening news. Lavazza Cafe is also connected to the building, offering a wide range of coffee/tea and snacks for a little pick-me-up.

This is a pretty cool place – It’s right by the mag mile, and it’s designed to impress. There’s a real hang out vibe. The lobby wraps around the building, the front desk and valet on one side with the bar and ample seating around the corner. If you do want to hang out somewhere else, there’s a great deck upstairs where you can get a nice little view of the city. If you want to hang out further from the lobby, Grande Lux is right nearby. They have over a hundred items on the menu. You’re a step away from Eddie Bauer, if you want to get camping gear. But you don’t need camping gear. The rooms are also great to hang out in, if you want to come to the city and hang out in your hotel room, this is a pretty good place to do it.

The lobby is the best part of this updated older hotel. It feels very modern and glamorous. The rooms themselves are just okay design wise. There is a pretty comfortable bed and a flat panel TV. The bathrooms are small, but good water pressure and hot water. The gym here is tiny, but there was no one in there when I went, so no competition for the two treadmills and two ellipticals. Good budget option, but I'd never pay full rate here.

This hotel is a hip place near the Magnificent Mile and features a fire in the lobby, (don’t panic, it is in a fireplace). The lobby is modern and is great if you are into aviation or if you have friends and family coming in because you can see when flights are arriving and departing on the monitor by the Concierge desk. The building was finished in 1928, and is evident by smaller rooms, bathrooms, and elevators that make the hotel boutique like. The renovation has made this hotel more modern looking than other newer built hotels, and I only mentioned the smallness of things because it seems to be a common complaint, but it in no way takes away from the hotels modern style. Also there is a really great breakfast place and market called the Fox and Obel where you can get a satisfying brunch and an A+ Cappuccino which my friend Teale has been serving up all summer long. The Inn of Chicago is stylishly hip, has its fire at a comfortable not threatening temperature in its fireplace, pulls off historic and modern at the same time, and is .5 miles from most things inherently Chicago.

Built in 1928 (with the hall-closet sized elevators to prove it) this hotel has a newly renovated hip and attractive lobby punctuated with comfy angular furniture and subtly luxurious textures and colors. Think “W” but smaller and less pretentious – and way less expensive. With some travel discounters showing last-minute bookings in the $100 range, it would be hard to spend less on a room so centrally located in the Loop. Along with the multi-million lobby upgrade, floors 3, 4 and 5 were recently completely renovated, and a bellman said hotel owners plan to work their way upwards. All the rooms have been gussied up with new beds and flat screen televisions and ipod docks, and the effect is charming in the way of an aging beauty sporting a new hat. There is no restaurant, but there is an adjacent, unaffiliated Italian coffee shop, LaVazza.

The workers aren't very personable, and they charge for wifi. Try elsewhere
