Very pretty place! The lights in the lobby were beautiful, the room itself very clean. The shower glass was nice, and the bathroom lights were nicely designed. The bad part is that the pool/gym/spa requires another $15 and so does the wi-fi. Should not charge for these things...

This hotel was a bit of a letdown. The rooms were very standard and the lobby was crowded and not relaxing. A bit far from public transportation.

Stay on a top floor to and request a river / lake view. It's clean and relatively nice after a long day. Nothing fancy but it's a good place to stay. Staff is very friendly and accommodating if you need anything.

Being from Chicago, when I go back to visit family, I want a hotel that's a really good bargain and right downtown near the lakeshore. The Swissotel is my go-to choice for chic hotel accommodations at a cut-rate price. The atmosphere is all business, but also quiet -- the hotel is a few blocks off Michigan Ave, which makes it a more relaxing place to stay. I don't mind the international standard style, with some boutique amenities thrown in.

Bad service and overpriced! Few days before my trip they called to say the room was only booked for 2 nights when it was booked for 3 nights. Took some time but eventually this was fixed. The front desk is pretty helpful and friendly but the room service isn't. There is complimentary keurig coffee but they only give you decaf and they won't accept requests...instead they want you to pay for it. The rooms and bathroom are spacious but the beds are uncomfortable so I had back aches. You have to pay for the Internet and it isn't steady, keeps kicking you off. The location is really convenient, walking distance to everything. Overall I wouldn't recommend it for the price and service.

How much you enjoy your stay here is likely to depend on whether you can find a discounted room rate, because every service in the hotel is a la carte. The hotel charges $15 per day to use the pool or gym. Wireless internet is extra. Upgrade for $25 to a to a corner room where you can see the Navy Pier fireworks on Saturdays in the summer (no extra charge!) It’s a sleek, low-key hotel with modern furnishings and a more austere professional feel to the service that can be a bit of a contrast with the sensibilities of the Midwesterners who turn up here. Though it is just three blocks off Michigan Avenue, it’s a bit of a walk to the main Mag Mile shops (but a quick cab ride.) Parking is $50+ per night so just say no to that, find a cheap garage and get pedestrian like the locals do. The trains and buses are awesome and intuitive in Chicago. The elevators in the hotel, not so much. There’s a system where you key in your floor, are assigned a car to take you there, and then people who don’t know how it works fill up your space and are bemused when they can’t just push a button on the inside. Bemused is probably putting it mildly. Again, check Travelocity, because this place seems to have lots of last minute availability and even with the add-ons you can probably leverage yourself a value stay with a fantastic view.

When I saw the front of this hotel I was really impressed. The mood is modern European. It is like being at a giant street café, except for the restaurant which is more like an Irish pub. The lobby is extremely clean with a lot of nice dark wood. The staff was polite and helpful. The elevators have a new system that allows you to choose your floor before you get in, and then directs you to which elevator you will need. This made it very convenient when there was a large group of people waiting for the elevators, and we did not have to try to squeeze into one elevator. The suite had a gorgeous view of the Navy Pier, and all of the furniture and décor was highly modern and impressive. The pool and fitness rooms are also modern and great. They both feature floor to ceiling windows, and the pool has a really neat mural of the Chicago skyline. This place really impressed me.

Clean, urban, conveniently located.

I was here for a work conference. It's the hotel where the conference is held, so, that makes booking/staying here an obvious choice.

Transformers was being filmed when we were there, and they gave me a high floor with a nice view, so both, total wins.

I would probably stay here again, although there are so many fun boutique hotels in Chicago to try out too in the same price range...

Oh, figure out your elevators so it's not so darn slow (I think I waited like 10 minutes for one one day).
